*Slaps forehead* Of course energy can't be created or destroyed, but we are talking about possible principals that outreach just one definition of energy as 'work' as is normally catagorised. We have the fact in the quantum world that the electron cannot function without energy input from virtual particles, which spontaniously push into existance from vacuum.

If this does work and they have found a setup that allows constant asymmetry in the magnetic interaction then energy has to be coming from somewhere, and that somewhere would be the source of the dipole charge in the magnet, or in other words 'vacuum'.
 
true but I feel my theory on what's happening is far far more likely than the disapproval of the first law of thermodynamics.
 
Dear god, I can't really stress this enough, the law of conservation of energy only takes into account an environment with no aether, which is falsified by the operandi of quantum mechanics and particle physics. It's a basic fact, you cannot have static 'aether' or vacuum, the universe would simply just not function.

It is not violated even if this does work, look at it this way.. a water wheel in a river turns constantly providing it is constructed in the correct way, the energy source is apparent, it is an overunity system. You end up getting more work out then you personally have to put in. The energy source is recognised.. no violation.

It's the same with the vacuum, if you can hook your machinery upto the workings of the vacuum through natural manifestations like the dipole charges of a magnet, then the vacuum does the rest of the work for you and you've created a 'water wheel' of sorts.

Problem here is everyone seems to of been brainwashed with the classical electrodynamics model at school.
 
Eh I was posting to the post previous. And tbh, your analogy holds with what I was wondering might be happening.

By the use of a compass one can easily determine the presence of magnetic waves. We have a magnetic field, a magnetic wheel, and if you think about it, the magnetic core of the earth holds a massive amount of power.

I'm not discounting the possibility of vacuum energy here.

And I wasn't brainwashed by classical electrodynamics, I'm thinking of a theoretical alternative to a theoretical hypothesis on how something we don't actually know works, works.

Kinda silly when you think about it.

Fake. Any person making a scientific claim that refuses to expose it to review by other scientists is definitely a con artist. Or was dropped on the head as a child. People have been trying to disprove the laws of thermodynamics for roughly 200 years, and not one claim has stood up to more than 10 minutes of investigation.

Your energy source in this instance is the sun. Its a poor analogy, because the water wheel is not an overunity system.

You don't have to try and baffle people with science. You just have to demonstrate that our knowledge of the universe is scant, we don't understand everything (hence no unified theory), and its quite possible that new branches of science will present themselves to those willing to think with an open mind.

Personally though I'll eat my underpants if Steorn's device is what it claims to be.

I tend to agree, but it is not possible to patent a device of this nature, and that may be a reason why the details have not been released.
 
If I was to figure out a way to block gravity on half a wheel would that constitute free energy. The wheel would accelerate until it was limited by friction but is gravity 'doing work' on it?
 
It's just that we don't know how gravity works yet. And since your idea shouldn't work, it's probably not possible to shield it.
 
Or the energy required to block gravity would probably work out to be at least equal to that gained from the generator. It's more than likely to be greater due to natural inefficiency.

If I remember correctly STS-75 was conducting a similar experiment with a coil that drifted off into space. You can see the tether project on a video I posted in the image/video dump.

They posted why..... However they have the museum up until the 13th. If they don't get anything by then.... well I call shenanigans!
