scheduled for a release in 2010!

it will be in the same style as Fallout 3 and will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by some of the developers of Fallout and Fallout 2.

Is it Fallout 4?

No, Fallout 4 will be a separate future project that will likely be developed by Bethesda Game Studios itself. For more information, see: Fallout 4 FAQ.
Will it be a MMORPG?

No, it will be a Single-Player game, like previous Fallouts. However, Interplay licensed the rights to a Fallout MMORPG from Bethesda in 2007 and is currently developing it under the codename Project V13. Bethesda recently moved to rescind the Fallout MMORPG license, claiming that Interplay is in breach of the licensing agreement. Interplay disputes these claims.

For more details, see: Fallout Online FAQ.
Is it some kind of DLC?

No, unlike the add-on packs, it will be a standalone game.

What platforms will it be released for?

Like Fallout 3, the game will be released for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

BTW, the Point Lookout DLC is now out for Fallout 3:borg:

This was announced quite awhile ago. Old.

But I've heard mixed reactions about KOTOR2 (Obsidian made that I believe) and most of them praised the game, so I'm looking forward to New Vegas. Also having some of the Fo1 and Fo2 developers on this will work to the game's advantage. Maybe they can do Fallout in 3D right... We can only hope.

fallout 3d was already "made right" it's called Fallout 3

ya no one bought that game. it's sooo shit people arent buying the DLC either ..which is why they've announced new DLC and even a new game. BUT THANK GOD YOU ARE HERE TO TELL US OTHERWISE

the animations in Fallout 3 were, well, lacking. Is this what you mean by Fallout in 3d done right?

Edit: Fallout 3 on its own is amazing, and the DLC's do nothing but expand on its awesomeness. Except Operation:Anchorage. That was lame.

Fallout 3 wasn't the successor everyone hoped it would be, especially because the skeptics knew it came from Bethesda and already had no trust for them handling the franchise. Even though it said that the game "will be the same style as Fallout 3" doesn't mean that Obsidian can change some things for the better. And I have confidence they will.

The only thing I can say will be failed is the silly Fallout MMORPG. newcomers to the franchise seemed to get addicted to Fallout 3, and a few old timers I've spoken to were a tad disappointed but still enjoyed the game. I was a newcomer and really don't play anything but Fallout 3 anymore. So yes, I am biased towards saying its a nearly perfect game.

so in other words they were predisposed to NOT like the game. gotcha; their opinion is biased and tainted by their own preconcieved notions therefore it's completely meaningless

so what needs changing

so what needs changing

I choose not to argue.

Omg... Fallout 3 was my favorite game until I got every achievement in it. But then I bought Operation A. , The Pitt, And Broken Steel. But then got every achievement in those.

I can't wait for the next Fallout, and I hope I'm not going to be disappointed.

so you're into RPGs I see. I choose .. kick to the groin

Ehh. I'm into most genres. I choose not to argue because even though I don't think Fallout 3 was as good as the last two, I'm not really as passionate about the issue to quarrel over our differing opinions.

I look forward to Fallout fanboys making excuses for Obsidian(if they fuk up things) by blaming it on Bethesda's engine/dev tools.

FO3 was GOTY last year for me.

Well, that ****ing sucks. I was expecting it to be more like original Fallout series.

I don't think that the large amount of people who played Fallout 3 would want to see the series go back to its old "boring" turn-based strategy gameplay.

I hope they won't use the engine from Oblivion/Fallout 3 that would suck ass.

They claim that due to a tight schedule, the Fallout 3 engine may need to be used.

They at least need to make a few tweaks. And maybe make SPECIAL more like its predecessors; it seemed to have a more significant role in Fo1 and Fo2 than in Fo3. Maybe add in more skills, as well? And maybe traits, yum. :D

turn based and isometric view? come on that was almost 20 years ago. give it a rest already. that wouldnt sell unless it's $5 and on an iphone. Fallout fanboys are out of their cottom pickin minds.

Old news for me, it was announced ages back. It's just a Fallout spinoff made by another developer using the Fallout 3 engine. It'll be good imo.

truth, the FPS/TPS angles seemed to work out (save character animations that never change, I mean at least attempt to make it look like your running up a hill) VATS was just a failed attempt at the turned based combat, but that seems so boring.

IE:
I hit Super Mutant with a Chinese AR for 22 damage
Super Mutant hit me with Plasma Rifle for 46 damage
I hit Super Mutant with Chinese AR for 16 damage
Super Mutant gets a critical hit on me with Plasma Rifle for 54 damage

Player dies

Yeah, call me and Stern retards because we disagree with you. If you really have nothing to offer to this thread then ****ing leave. Dont spam your shit images in an lame attempt to mock other members. Either you have a decent reply as a counter-arguement and you post it or you don't. Theres no need to be a douchebag when someone disagrees with you.

Turn-based may seem boring at first, but trust me it is easy to get into it albeit can be annoying at times when there are more NPCs on the screen than usual (Cathedral, Fallout 1).

EDIT: VATS was "in" Fallouts 1 and 2, just as a more simple body part selection screen without the cinematics. It also allowed you to aim for more specific body parts, i.e. crotch and eyes. It named the body parts and they varied from animal to animal and even the plants. It was actually very useful, allowing you to spend one more AP to aim for a weak point (example: eyes on a Deathclaw).

I was actually wondering how you can take on multiple enemies, almost thought they had to wait their turn. Were the NPC v NPC battles turn based too?

I prefer relying on my own aiming than vats. I make exceptions for close range dogs, bastards are annoying.

Congratulations, you proved yourself to be a true retarded. Turn-based isn't what makes a Fallout game. It's the story, moral choices, hopelessness and many similar elements. I fail to see any of these in Bethesda's shitty games. Fallout 3 is a game designed by "dumb people, for dumb people" like you.

where's my vault flask, you ****ing bethesda

Every battle is turn-based. NPC v NPC is too, except you usually have the chance to the join in. All NPCs wait their turn, each have their own amount of AP.

I love you.

I've posted repeatedly on the flaws of Fallout 3. If anyone wants to educate themselves, they can search my posts in this section, I'm not going to reiterate what I wrote for the nth time.

I'm looking forward to Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian is a competent studio and they can definitely do justice to the title, unlike Bethesda.

I don't trust Obsidian, but let's wait and see.

J.E. Sawyer was the lead in Van Buren.

MCA designed most of Van Buren initially.

Nothing can go wrong.

I heard via rumour that the dude writing New Vegas worked on Bloodlines. And some of the VA's.

So, yeah.

Oooh.
This oughta be pretty good.

Now, think of what KOTOR2 had been like if they hadn't sent it out so early.

Obsidian would be gods by now.

On a side note, playing Point Lookout.

Amazing, the character stories, exploration, and the atmosphere of the land are all top-notch. The setting is almost enough to buy the DLC... and don't forget:

MUTANT HILLBILLIES.
