Fan made CS:Source Ragdoll movie

One of my friends Phrze has put together a great movie showing off all types of the different ragdoll physics in the beta. Lots of cool multiple explosion deaths making bodies fly every which way and it really shows off the power of the Source engine. Includes music and some cool video effects to keep it interesting.

It works in Windows Media Player and Divx Player just fine.

Maybe you need to unzip it first :D
 
VERY cool video! I love it!! Laughed the whole time, I hope there are deticated servers just for this! One thing I thought was wierd was how fast the bodies turned static when they died. They are totaly stiff in the air? Whats up with that?
 
lol.. that was really cool.. i loved when it looked like a CT ran up the edge (like up the wall but only up the edge)

It's probably a way for the game to reduce the number of physics calculations, thus making the game run smoother. So it only calculates the physics for a 'take-off' and a 'landing' with only some minor calculations for rotation in the air...
 
Quick question, I've tried tons of phys_xxxxx commands but can't figure out how to get the dead bodies to react in slow-mo. Phys_timescale didn't work on bodies. Is it even possible? Looks like it is in this video at one point for a few deaths. Anyone know?
 
It's cl_phys_timescale (or something like that) and you have to turn on sv_cheats to use it.

About the slow motions I used the video software for that. I didnt do anything in game to make it slower or anything. The only thing I ever changed in game was gravity so we could get to the high places.

This is my first movie that I have ever made and thanks Tom for posting this. :cheese: Hope you guys liked. I love source and it was fun doing and playing around in it.

If the ragdolls would be just a bit heavyer then it would be realistic...

ragdolls heavyer and bullet and granade impacts stronger
 
My favorite part is where the guys arm gets caught on the fence after the explosion. Btw when the camera zooms in on the ragdoll bodies they look incredibly detailed and move so realisitically, I was amazed.
