Hi guys, Just wanted to make a sugestion for the HL2 discussion forums. I have noticed that there has been an increasing number of the same questions/threads being posted over the last few months regarding topics which have been discuss many many times before. May I suggest that a FAQ is put together with answers regarding these basic questions (eg will HL2 support HDR, PS2.0 etc)?

I know you already have the "questions from valve" thread but it is becoming obvious that people cant be bothered to trawl through it to find there answers or use the search facility of the site.

Just think this will save u guys a lot of hassel in the future locking & deleting useless threads :)

Anyway. Good luck guys

That's quite a good idea actually. It's about time I wrote something so I'll start this later. I'll let you all see it first so you can give me your input on any I've missed out.

I have a feeling people will simply ignore the faq like they ignore the 'valve speaks' articles/the info thread. So what good will a faq do except allow us to post "check the faq"? Feel free to go ahead with it, just don't expect a large decrease in those kind of threads.

We already have one on the main site.

To be fair, I'd rather not go through 600 posts to find an answer to something and unfortunately people hardly ever use the content pages. But on the other hand, no one will read the faq either. We'll probably leave it for now actually.

chris it may not eliminate the problem but it will certainly reduce it. :)

Why don't we just have a sticky saying 'Use the search function'? Would be alot easier than having to go through making a huge FAQ. As you all know, the information is locked away within the Half-Life 2 discussion board, we just need to show people how to access it easily.

It will still only reduce the problem slightly, either way but Abom's idea about doing nothing sounds better :p

lol ok guys, just thought it could make your lives easier, and also stop the many troll and flames which have been (annoyingly) happnening lately.

nevermind

Cheers

People would just ignore it, just like they do with the forum rules that they have to see when they sign up.
