Good thing I took a chance and picked this one up:

Do remember that there may be spoilers!

I can't read the scans as they are far too small, but when I had a quick nosy, I couldn't see anything about the map editor. Why is there no more information on that thing?

If you click on the image you get a larger version. Then if you click on the expand button on the lower-right hand corner of the image you get the full res version. Nothing on the editor but it looks all cool.

Wow, glad to see that someone likes it! The dynamic storytelling is a real draw to me, as well as the open world FPS action. The only worry I have is that it wont look very nice on my computer, as I cant run it on the Recommended settings.

Anyone notice that on page 67 of the review with the 'buddies' list the Israeli guy named Paul Ferenc looks really similar to the Algerian Hakim Echebbi(fate is kept secret).

Damn, this looks great.

Shame my PC won't handle it and I'll have to get it for the X360. Thumb aiming ftl.

Nice that PC Gamer is allowing FC2World to use scans. I'm getting increasingly excited for FC2.

Considering one of the writers was here the other day upset that people were talking about scanning his article I doubt it's quite a case of 'allowing' more they are acknowledging the source. The website is a fansite, not an official site it seems.

Not sure myself, it seemed when I glanced at the site that they'd arranged something with the PC Gamer guys.

Far Cry 2 Editor! Holy hell!

As for the article, it just pushed my excitement level beyond 100% However, as every article and review seems to say, the character's haven't been done as well as other major games, and that's probably the games only negative side.

Oh and it anyone read about the fact that you can take a bus, to go around the country. Like, enter a goddamn bus with a driver, so that he takes you to the next town. Just WOW!

Holy shit! He made that map in less then an hour! It's gonna be so ****ing awesome, I cant wait.

I still might get it to my PS3 thou, I mean, I did spend alot of money geting the damn thing. So I can't really afford buying a PC for this game.

Nice, really looking forward to this. Wish I could get it on PC but I'm probably gonna have to settle for 360.

While I am getting the PC version, it amazes me that they are including the map editor in the console version. Very awesome.

this game will not disappoint... there's a multiplayer preview at gamespot too, MP sounds like it will fit in very well. My brother is going to buy it for our PS3, he wants to liven up our game collection for it, but I am urging him to get it for the 360 because of achievements. I might pick this one up for PC when I have a new system by the end of the year - just to see how it performs and for times I just wanna have the game all to myself.

The African setting is going to look superb on our DLP in the living room.

The editor looks a little trickier to use than Crytek's editors.

But, this looks like it's going to take a gigantic shit on Crytek anyways.

ugh...still havent gotten rockband 2..I cant spend all my monies on games -___-

I'll be getting the PS3 version. I would have preferred it on the PC, but my PC is dead and wouldn't have run it very well anyway. Haven't read about the MP yet, hopefully it will be good.

It's not that surprising, Ubisoft included a map-editor in their Far Cry versions for console, why wouldn't they do the same for the sequel? It was one of the things that made the XB version of Far Cry so incredibly popular, the map editor.

Also, GameSpot did a MP preview a few days ago, it gave a very good verdict.

I'll hold my applause for the end of the show thank you very much.

Far Cry and Crysis were both huge disappointments, and I somehow doubt Farcry 2 will differ from the same formula.

Have you even seen or read anything about FC2? Different dev, different game. It's not even all that similar to FC1 or Crysis, save for being on a huge open map (which is actually open this time), and being a first person shooter.

Why do they even call it far cry? For the attention? It's how i found out about it, but im sure i whould have heard about it even under some different title...

Yeah why don't they call it something more original like Faryca or Africry...

I am kind of interested in this now.... how much is the preorder going for?

Edit: 50 on steam.... not bad.

"Do ittt, doooo it"
NO, NO, I gotta hear the people's reviews first
"DO ITTTT"

As soon as they said "No mutants" I knew this game would be epic

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, it's only called "Far Cry" for marketing purposes. I'm glad of it, too. I didn't dig Far Cry 1 as much as I could've. Those trigens were f***ing hard to kill.

What rating did the first one get? Because I remember it getting great ratings and the game totally sucked. The voice acting made me cringe.

The map editor is very impressive, but one has to wonder if the content included with said editor cannot be expanded through tired and true modelling. For the PC it seems likely, but the consoles are stuck... unless they want to go the DLC route and gouge away... again.

I think the map editor is geared towards the average consumer, i.e. those without degrees in computer science and 3d modeling, thus I would be very surprised if they added support for external content (especially for the console versions).
However, I think it would be a good move by the developers if they made the high-end tools available for the PC version.
For me, the sort of extreme WYSIWYG (for lack of a better term) map maker they're showing is fine. I'm interested in game development but I have no urge to create a mods for this game. However, I can see myself playing around with the included editor for hours making the most unbelievable and crazy situations: ramps for cars, chain reactions of exploding barrels, stealth scenarios, etc etc.

Yeah hopefully this becomes the next Garry Mod or something.

I'm hoping it will be more like Halo 3's Forge. Rather than use crazy tools to bend the game's rules, I would rather have it's main focus be to create new singleplayer scenarios and fun multiplayer maps.
I think that there's going to be some sort of social aspect to it to share maps users have created. Thus, I don't want an endless supply of "Haha, you push this button and the guy dies" maps. I'd appreciate a level if sincerity rather than just completely stupid stuff.

My 2c.

Yeah, I agree, and hopefully, if they are like Bungie, the devs will find the maps that stand out amongst the rest and implicate them into the multiplayer experience and stuff.

I don't really get what's so great about this map editor. I mean, the Crysis editor most of the same tools, but with a lot more advanced capabilities. The Far Cry 2 map editor can only make multiplayer maps and you can't add AI. There doesn't seem to be any scripting tools, and it doesn't even seem like you can import your own models or textures. Everything else about Far Cry 2 has me practically pissing myself with excitement, but the map editor looks really dumbed down, especially since they've said that this editor is all we're going to get as far a modding goes.
