Far Cry 2 get 94% rating!

Judging from the menu on the right the map maker was adding spawn points, not specific characters. But whether those are spawn points for AI or human players, I don't know.

And what's more awesome is that it'll apparently be available on the 360 and PS3 too, including the ability to create single-player maps, which is awesome, not many console FPSes have had single-player map creating available, only ones that come to mind is hmm.. TimeSplitter series.

Far Cry on the old-gen consoles had a map editor, so it's been around before. Don't think it was that deep (although I doubt the PC and console are getting the same one)

The Far Cry XB1 editor didn't support making single-player maps IIRC, only multiplayer.

Is this confirmed? The whole single-player map thing? 'Coz wiki says it'll only support multiplayer maps, and I've yet to see a video that says it does SP content.

I'm hoping it will do SP maps, but I've not seen any word on that (yet)

No singleplayer maps. They've explicitly stated that.

RPS: So this map editor looks great, if you like that sort of thing. Are you expecting a deluge of single-player scenarios made by players?

Hocking: Whoa? no. I hope there is no misunderstanding here, but the release version of the level editor will not allow players to create single player scenarios. Our world is a single continuous 50km square open world, and there would be no way to even ENTER a user-made map from that world, even if it was possible. Regardless, the main reason the map editor is so powerful is that we don?t saddle players with the complex and hard to debug issue of generating navigation data for AI, nor with the sophisticated scripting tools that allow the generation of mission scenarios. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding about what the level editor is capable of, but it is only for the creation and sharing of multiplayer maps.

:(

My excitement just dropped a tiny notch, hopefully it's something for a future sequel atleast.

I'm not too fussed, I'm going to have bags of fun with the map editor anyway. I can't remember if I said it on here or to a friend (quite sad that the line between the two is blurred, huh?) but I've made tons of maps in the Halo Forge that I haven't even played a proper game or on hosted to a friend/Bungie.net. I've just spent hours having fun making a map, making a backstory to it or just working on cool features that might, or might not, bode well for gameplay.

Even if I don't play a map in Far Cry, or if no one else does, I don't care. I'm still going to spend 90% of the time making maps and scenarios.

What a load of crap, they could have included the SP tools, if people found them to complex they could
just ignore them and only make MP maps. Hide them behind a "show advanced tools" option if need be.

...we don't saddle players with the complex and hard to debug issue of generating navigation data for AI, nor with the sophisticated scripting tools that...

From my experience of modders and mapmakers, I'd say the devs are seriously underestimating what some players can create with advanced enough editors. Sounds more like dumbing down for the masses than "not saddling players with sophisticated tools". I can understand the devs' point of view in terms of their 50 km sandbox type of single player, but player-created scenarios would hardly need to be as gargantuan, no?

Wait, there are two different editors, right? One for console, and one for PC. Why can't they just include the SP stuff for PC users?

Looking forward to it. Even though a lot of people didn't really care for the first one, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

It's almost a week away.... I can hardly wait.

I am very happy that I only have one class the day after it comes out, because I will be playing this all night on the 22nd.

It comes out right before a half-term holiday for us, so I get it on the friday, have a free house over the weekend, which means I'll be able to take my 360 downstairs onto the big plasma, and then after that I've still got a week of free time to play both Far Cry and Dead Space. :D
