Far Cry 2's Dunia engine

Looks fantastic. I'm definitely looking forward to this game.

It's like Afrika, only you can shoot shit.

Unfortunately, they won't be including any endangered species. I wanted another Jack Thompson lolfest, perhaps this time involving PETA.

Unfortunately, they won't be including any endangered species.

Where'd you hear that? If it's true, it's pretty stupid... unless it takes place in the future and those species have died off.

I actually think it's a pretty poor trailer.

It actually a trailer for a trailer, hence the old-style film filter. Doesn't make it any less impressive to me.

Looks like someone finally got fire right. As long as it's not too loopy.

PC Gamer U.S. and several interviews. And no it doesn't take place far in the future, they are doing it to stay under the radar. No predator cats of any kind either.

No cats? That's a bit lame. Having to watch for and avoid them would have added a lot. Oh well, it still looks great.

Looks great. I REALLY REALLY hope the engine is optimized.

Let's hope they get their shit together, if Ubisoft can deliver on this it would be a competitor to FarCry and what I consider a legit competitor on PC FPS turf. So far people are saying it's unoptimized as hell, chugging along at 25fps on SLI rigs. (PAX presentation machines). But a lot of the optimization is totally unfinished at this point so it's all up in the air.

I'm just glad it's PC only for now. The more optimized, the better.

To even compare this to Far Cry is retarded, Far Cry = Linear FPS with semi-openended levels.

Far Cry 2 = Dynamic, freeform, sandbox FPS where you can go wherever you want at any time and do whatever you want to anything or anyone.:p

Sedako, you are aware console versions have already been confirmed, right? 360 and PS3.:)

Devs are saying there'll be no major differences between the 3 versions.

Wasn't that the selling point for Far Cry? Yeah, wait until you've played the game so we can all laugh at how unlinear Far Cry 2 tried to be when in reality it was just a linear story with a lot of space in between.

I think a game with a lot of space with primary/secondary missions set in Africa would be extremely fun. And no trigens. Oh wow.

Not really, if anything, Far Cry 2 is more comparable to the concept of "STALKER Oblivion Lost" before THQ raped it.

And no trigens..

And just to be sure the point is made - No. ****ing. Trigens! People really hated that part of the game. Also, I hope they cut out that ridiculous feature of having to pull bullets out of yourself. I mean, how big is the chance of everytime you get hit, it's in the hand? That's stupid.

Far Cry 2 looks a lot more interesting then the yawn-fest that is Crysis.

2% they said. Whether it's a good or a bad thing will be measured in performance.

Yes, because a man making lots and lots of loud noises and conjuring up fire is going to be a prime target for predators.
I think the wildlife doesn't matter too much: it's impressive enough that they're there at all.

Incidentally: I am not interested in this game for any other feature than its zoological accuracy. Everything else is just window dressing.

The ten-minute demonstration released a couple of months ago is far more revealing, and impressive.
I completely agree. This looks like it is going to be a really great game though. I am of course very interested in the console versions since I have yet to upgrade my PC....

Oh god, that trailer made my computer shudder in inadequence. If that's real footage from the game, god, I want.

Consider this scenario: Your primary target is a mercenary camp off in the distance on a hill. However, there is a large pride of lions blocking your route as well crocodile infested water on either side of you. You want to keep from drawing the attention of the mercenary camp, so making a lot of noise or causing activity would not be the best option. You could either try and sneak past the lions, swim through the water, or take a long detour around everything.

Choices like that would be awesome in a game like this.

I am really excited about this game, and I sure I can run it since I play Crysis on "Very High" settings. It's a shame I can't watch the video from where I am now.

im not playing anything made by Crytek, FarCry and Crysis were both sh1t

Aah, I always assumed Far Cry owned the rights. Well, that's weird, but fine.

The teaser looks pretty impressive, so I can't complain.

Ubisoft also developed the Far Cry instincts series and Far Cry Vengeance for the Wii.

Ubisoft Montreal certainly has more game development experience than CryTek anyway.

Yeah, so the franchise is definitely in able hands... right?

That's not what i was getting at. I was backing up the fact that Ubisoft owns the rights to Far Cry.

The Wii version in particular should be confined to the same pit as E.T. for the Atari 2600.

I agree with you there. That project must have been given to their janitor it was so bad. Even the videos and trailers looks bad, but that's not the case here at least.

Yeah, but it's hard to develop a FPS for the Wii... it just doesn't work. Unless you have a lightsaber in your game, a Wii game just isn't going to work.
