Patch is huge, totaling over 1.5GB in size
AMD listed the changes to the 64-bit version of Far Cry as follows:

All Levels

- Improved terrain textures
- Increased view distance
- Offset bump mapping added for rock and stone objects
- More insects and birds

On the Pier Level

- New beach road with additional vehicle
- Barrel storage camp
- Opened more space to explore

Pier and Boat

- New terrain textures with shader

Two New 64-bit only Multiplayer levels

- Stronghold
- Gorge

only small advantage in perfomance and you must have WinXP64 + 64 cpu :E

Meh, you see, I would care, being I have the game, and an A64 CPU, but why should I play Far Cry when I have Source games to play, as well as Guild Wars?

Slightly improved graphics and draw distance is all i'm seeing. Even if i had an AMD64 CPU i wouldn't bother installing it as i think the game is downright crap anyway.

yes you get this maps with this patch . tho patch is for 64 bit CPU. so nothing bad here.

Just that half if not 75% of the people still playing it really don't have amd64's. Doubt servers will even run those mp maps for a reason.

yeah its true, they create all this extra stuff for only peeps with certain high end gear, btw did that hdr patch work with ati cards, particurly the x800xt by any chance?

The 64bit compatibility isn't going to give better performance when they're adding more graphical elements is it? I mean, im on 64bit but not exactly a great graphics card, i'd like the patch to give me more fps rather than more critters/distance and lower fps.

Windows 64 + Drivers = :(

I dunno, I didn't know they added HDR :x All I know is that Crytek needs to get their shit together and get back to supporting their game, just because they left ubi doesn't mean they let there game go unfixed.

No, the HDR patch needed SM3.0 to run, which is only available on Gforce 6 series cards right now. The new ATi 520 chipset will be the first ati card to support SM3.0.

As for the patch - what's with the bitching? It means a shitload of cool new stuff for some people, and it's free; no one's forcing you to download the ****in' thing.

Oh, and offset mapping is PARALLAX mapping, for those of you that don't get that.

meh, this means I'd have to go through all the trouble to get winXP64, then download all 1.5GB of this update just to play an update of an only slightly above average game that's somewhat past it's prime when compared to what else is out there now.

what was the last patch released btw? i thought they supported the game quite well, i never had any probs though, i have all the patches up to 1.31 or sumit like it, they add hdr and this new stuff so its not bad support i guess but thats only coz they have a nice pay deal with nvidia and amd, and i have neither. :(

heh, web forums and bitching go together like McDonald's and fat people. You should know that by now.

Anandtech had a pretty good article. I thought AMDzone's pictures did a better job of showing the differences though.

By the way, Farcry's HDR doesn't need PS3.0 but rather 16-bit floating point (OpenEXR format). ATI does not use that though. HL2's version works on PS2.0 though.

hmm there doesnt seem to be a major diff in those screens.

I loved FarCry. Now all I need is a 64 bit processor, Win64 and a video card from this decade and I'll be all set.

Check out the official FC site, then go to the forums, they don't even post in there anymore, or acknowledge it. Its really bad :(

first they should service a long abnandoned x32 community :-| cytek is so terrible about patching.

What patching? We get a new patch every blue moon, and sometimes its only a few fixes, thats it. I don't understand why people say VALVe have bad patching, they obviously haven't been shown to CryTek.
