Multiplayer Mode
Basic Concept
· Fast paced team action within the Far Cry universe.
· Assault, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch game modes.
· Utilizes some of the key features of the Single Player game:
· Long range Gameplay
· Vehicular gameplay
· Beautiful tropical environments
· Multiple maps to play in the package, and a complete editor to allow for the creation of new maps.
· Completely mod-able code allows for the community to make maps and MODs. We will be supporting the MOD community, and expect this to be the game for the MOD community for 2004.

Weapons, Tools, and Gameplay
· View distances that can exceed 1km, long-range gameplay has been a key feature of FarCry multiplayer.
· All weapons from the single player game are available:
· The sniper rifle and Rocket Launcher allows the player control over extreme ranges, sometimes shooting with accuracy across entire maps.
· Rocket launchers, mounted weapons, and scoped assault rifles (the OICW and AG36) allow the player to control the mid-to-long range areas as well.
· A new feature, the "sniper flare" allows other players in the game to pinpoint the position of other snipers by light reflecting from the sniper scope. This allows us to balance the threat of long range control of an area with increased vulnerability from other long range weapons.
· Player radar shows the placement of friends and only the sounds of enemies - allowing for great "cat-and-mouse" gameplay and highe coordination among teams.

Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch Modes
· Classic run and gun gameplay, either every man for himself, or 2 separate teams.

Assault Mode
· Tactical, team-based combat pitting two teams of attackers and defenders against each other to capture targets on the map.
· Each map contains three capture points that must be taken in order and within a time limit to win the game.
· All players play as one of three classes:
· Grunt: Has a huge selection of weapons, and has both more health and armor - but a slightly slower speed.
· Sniper: Can choose the Rocket Launcher or Sniper Rifle as primary weapon. Capable of doing damage across massive ranges, but has less armor and health.
· Support: Builds structures such as bunkers, towers, roadblocks, mounted weapons and walls. Also uses heavy explosives to destroy such structures. Can also provide health for other players in the game. Average health and armor.
· Once the point is captured, the teams move on to the next objective.

Sand Box Editor
Basic Concept
· The CryEngine editor offers some of the best technology available in an easy to use package that players can use to adjust or make completely new maps. The editor will be shipped as part of the final game, and support will continue online for the community after release.

Basic Concept
· "What You See is What You Play" Real Time Editing: The key to the editor is that you can actually play the game in the editor, using the exact same codebase as the real game. With one key-click you can transition from game to editor, testing and checking while you edit. This quick-response loop is the key to the success of Far Cry - and now it is available to the general public.
· Realtime Heightmap Terrain Editor: Allows the creation of a heightmap field by use of a grayscale image, or by directly pushing and pulling the terrain realtime.
· Realtime Texture Layer Painter: In addition to adjusting terrain textures by heightmap and angle, the player can paint textures directly on the terrain as though using a paintbrush. A complete texture pass can be done on a level in minutes.
· Material/Shader Editor: The system includes a complete material system that drives the textures on GLM pieces, as well as their physical properties, such as sounds when hit, particles, and pierce-ability.
· Realtime Dynamic Lighting Editor: Place dynamic lights and adjust them in realtime.
· Advanced Dot3 Lightmaps:Set up intricate light mapping settings, and then bake the results into the terrain, while retaining many of the properties of dynamic lights.
· Advanced GLM System: Build virtually anything from stock pieces of scenery, with copy/paste/snap/grid tools, or even make your own objects in Max and import them yourself. You can even cut sections of the terrain out, import it to Max, edit it, and bring it back into the editor as an object.
· Vegetation Painting System: Create whole forests in minutes, with various parameters settable to create unique areas, and optimizations to make them frame-rate light.
· Sound Placement: Place 3D sounds anywhere you want in the level - even attach them to objects and characters.
· Trigger and Game Event Placement: Place triggers, waypoints, and other game objects anywhere in the world, and attach them to scripts you can control. Allows for complete freedom of game design.
· Cut-Scene Editor: Make your own in game cutscenes, with fill animation and camera controls.
· Archetype Database: Set up a complete archetype library of frequently used objects, so that you can easily make global adjustments to the same objects across a whole level. These archetypes can then be imported into other levels easily.
· Physics Editing Tools: Completely configure the physics of any object in the game. Anything can be made into a rigid body and tuned.
· Particle Editing System: Create your own particle systems, with complete control over all aspects.
· Completely Configurable Editor Layout: Move user windows, adjust the toolbars, or even set different keys and macros.
· Complete Profiling Tools: Check your level and ensure that it is completely optimized using state of the art profiling tools for all elements of the game.

far cry's single player looks damn good then the sp must be teh pwn.
only thing i wish it had would be co-op :naughty: but ill settle for this :)

+ the maps for multiplayer have been worked on by the guy who made the de_aztec map for CS.

Dear God.. I can't wait.. I'll take up some position in the hills, under the brush and tall grass over looking the enemies flag. The other team will be like, "wtf?!? Sn7 cheats, f'n HaX0r".. Muwahaha

yeah...weeeeee Super Mario sunshine with weapons...

gah...still don't see the appeal of this game...

sounds pretty intense. Still lookin forward to stalker more tho. Too many good games coming out! not that that's a bad thing :D

Im gonna buy HL2, stalker and Farcry next year... man... I need money.

I think of it more like a uber delta force type game.. I'd imagine if you like'd delta force or even bf1942, you'll probably like this game.

And I don't understand why people are saying it's too bright.. Uhh, It's a tropical island!! White sandy beaches, plam tree's, clear blue water and blue skies. I think it looks 100% realistic. Have you even seen cast away? The island didn't look all rag tag and raggedy ass now did it?

Think of fighting on hawaii, then maybe you notice it doesn't really look over done. :)

One thing I'm worried is spawning in and immediately being sniped by some lamer. Or being pinned down in a building because there's a little speck in the distance with his crosshairs sitting over the doorway. Sounds like it will turn into a major campfest.

one of your teamates will eventually find him and i doubt the spawn point is all the same. who knows tho. im still getting this game :) sounds like it has more customability for mods than hl2. physics dont look bad, colors look damn cool. still has that doom 3 look to the characters but still, its probally gonna come out before hl2. and when hl2 comes, i bet its not gonna look as good as it did 3 months ago. but hey, it may look better lol *prepares for flamage*

stalker + far cry + hl2 = teh win!

I think they'll probably take into factor the delay time of a bullet going a really long distance, making it pretty hard to hit someone from far away(like BF1942). And the light relfection from the sniper scope thing sounds really cool too.

Yah Far Cry ownzors all fps games. We're talking about the game that found Saddam Husein six years ago and won the Russian/China vs. UN conflict for the United Nations just four months ago, stopped nuclear war and saved the world whne Kim Jong launched nukes at South Korea and Japan about four years ago..

I might just buy this game anyways... Wow! WTF I SAID WOW!!!!!!!!

yes it does seem like a good engine, i would like to see just how large the maps are....

well, i think hl2 might be a little more flexable, but this engine does have its good side. either way im sure they will be different experiences.

and when does it come out? all iv heard was q1 2004.

I found March 24th which sucks, they should release in January when theres no decent games :/

sky view of like half of the island. HALF of the island...lol
seamlessly walking from one end of the island to the other, indoors and outdoors is what i call ****ing SWEETNESS!!.

Um, yeah it looks good. But it better runs reasonably smooth on mid end computers in MP, otherwise it's just eyecandy for PR. Time will tell. ATM, I'm leaning more towards MoH:pA, as I <pure conjecture> think it will be less demanding on "resources".

EDIT: Quotationized "resources" for great justice.

EDIT2: Um, someone please tell me what the proper word to use is as i doubt it's "quotationized"

EDIT3: Whoah! I just Quotationized "quotationized". Anyone else find that funny? No? , um, ok, I'll go back to playing with my imaginary friends now.

^lol

i took these shots on the old crytek demo about a month or 2 ago, it ran smoothly, no loading times from one side of the island to the other.

i was using the gf3 settings(highest settings it had) . and ran it on my

1.5ghz intel
512 pc 133 ram
g4-ti4200
(which is pretty much crap)

remember this is a old engine, and has been upgraded. (yeah i know the vegitation looks like crap).

but like i said it ran smooth, i just hope it runs the same with the new upgraded engine. :)

No it will be released late January, early to mid February 2004.

The feature that impresses me, is the real time editing! :D, I cant wait for that

I read in one article, that when you respawn you are immortle to all bullets etc, so you will have enough time to get out of the area so the spawn killers can't get you.

ya as soon as i heard that HL@ was hacked and all that shit was going on .i started posting at the official far cry forums. Truley.... i think Far Cry will own HL2 now.. but who knows they havent came out yet. I signed up for the multiplayer beta and will get a response within 6 days :p You guys should watch the New physics trailer.. it kicks as$ http://www.farcry-thegame.com/uk/index.php?changesite=flash
I also read in an interview that max settings, everything on high will run on 3.0ghz, 9700pro. And i also heard feb/march 2004... plus a demo will come out they promised so im guessing at the begginig of feb we will get to play far cry :naughty:

wow! wooooooooooow wow wow wo.....ok. enough......game looks awesome....i put that one on my hit list

Im gonna buy HL2, stalker and Farcry next year... man... I need money

why dont you ask Mr Bush for some money( you know that US president guy :sniper: ) hes swimming in it!, just pay a visit to his Oil buddies if you want, or even his best Saudi Arabian friends , the Bin Ladens. :p

must...own..

must...kill family... cut up there livers.... sell them in black market... use money to buy far cry....mmmmm...

Looks great, I loved Delta force, this is my style of game, I also love to me a "camping sniper fag boy" too, so I think this will be a wonderfull game.

The flare from sniper rifes will be great, meaning you should not camp one spot for too long, or you will be found out and killed, and by the sizes of the maps, there will be alot of places to snipe...

Me wants it!

Clarky...why go offtopic? >_>

Definitely happy that radar only shows friends and enemies sounds. In Halo..I always turned the motion tracker off in MP because it's lame. I'm actually glad it has the sound thing though. That way people won't just be able to run around the woods hiding all the time. I really like the idea of "Sniper Flare." That seems way better than a sniper trail or something.

Woo, i hope i get one, I wanna beta test it!
