Farcry BETA!

Well, if u was lucky enough to know that there was a sing up for the beta about 2 weeks ago then wicked. But if u got exceptd then thats even better. Me my self am so chuffed to be excepted although i think they just excepted everyone who signed up and didn;t have a crap computer. So anyone who did sign up check your emails. The beta its self is not distibuted to these people until early janunarny and proberly withing 1/2 weeks after that it will be avalible to everyone (hopfully) but get ready to test ya computers limites because FarCry is coming

If u have never heard of Farcry its basiclly everything good about hl2 and everythign good about doom3 mixed into 1 although it does lack some things that other engines don't its definatly one to look out for.

No, they just asked you if your computer met the a certain set of specs. I belive it was 1.0 Ghz, 256 mb ram, and a geforce 4 equal or higher.

It never asked what your specific computer specs were etc. Anyways Mine is a P4 3.2ghz gig of Corsair XMX DDR400 ram ATI 9800XT 256MB enough said hehe.

i dislike thier beta system, mainly because I htink I usally have a higher than normal chance to get in bacuse of my other beta experiance (U2: XMP, Horizons, Savage, EVE Online, Lords of Everquest). This one didn't ask for any other experiance.

Wasn't LoE a public beta? Or was it random selection before it went public?

Anyhow, I've had a buncha beta testing experience too (WC3, WC3:TFT, FFXI, PlanetSide, uh, okay, that's it ;( lol), but I don't think "experience" in beta testing should make you a higher choice than others, unless it's for something more technical (such as that FFXI server stress test thing that came up a long while ago)

I never understood why experience would matter... I mean any person can see if somethings broke/glitch and report it to the devs.

Well, there's a difference between "Yeah, the gun goes all funny when I run in 1024x768" and "The normals on the gun models don't affect the final frame render when run in 16 bit z-buffer mode".

Well 50% of people who sign up for beta tests sign up cause they wanna play a game for free. They generally don't report bugs, and if they do, they do so rarley. Also, FictiousWill hit it right on too.

Just because youve beta tested a few previous games doesnt mean youll be able to spew out "The normals on the gun models don't affect the final frame render when run in 16 bit z-buffer mode."
