So today my mom comes into my room and tells me she's leaving thursday morning and not coming back. She's already hinted at this and I assumed she was leaving and that it'd be sometime this week, so I wasn't surprised. I think it hurt her that I didn't care :/ But then she told me two things.

First she said that I probably shouldn't be here at 3:30 on thursday. Thats when my dad gets home and I assume she's going to leave a note for him or something. But it's good advice that I didn't think about. They've been married like 23 years and his temper is scarey. Probably better I'm not here.

She also said to do something nice for fathers day on sunday. Here in lies my problem. I was just going to get him a gift card at some random place. I have no idea how to do anything nice for days like this. And we're not a real close family, no i love you's etc. So showing any sort of compassion would be really uncomfortable... And it can't be too obvious cuz I don't want him to think I'm doing this just cuz his wife left him :/ And I work from like 11-6...

Any ideas?

That's about all that came to my mind :/
But that seemed really uncomfortable and obvious since i've never done anything like that before...

Buy him his favorite liquor...although that could make a turn for the worst.

Oh.

Then you can buy him some John Wayne movies...or some porn.

Lol, porn actually crossed my mind for its ironic apropriateness
Seemed like a bad idea tho...

Uncomfortable is good. If people didn't waste so much time being afraid of feeling (or making others feel) uncomfortable there'd be a lot less misunderstandings in the world.

Looks like you don't want to spend time with him, so I would recommend a good book. He's gonna have to rethink a couple of things over the next few days.

Lol, Charles.

My dad died when I was 5. I think Ikky (Charles, whatever the feck his name is) is doing just fine grief wise.

Haha its weird seeing my name...
Isn't Ikerous far better? ^_^

Pffh, not grieving? Theres not going to be anyone to go grocery shopping. I just might starve. And if the lack of income leads to my internet being shut off i could die.

Compared to a five year old boy running around screaming "WHY WHY WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!??????????", I think you're doing just fine.

Sorry bout the loss though. Any reason WHY she left? That could give you a better idea of what to get him.

EDIT: Yes Erestheux, I did smell the sarcasm.

I'm sorry about your dad, but that doesnt make Charles fine :| (although he seems to think so)

Sorry to hear about your family situation dude, but unfortunately I don't have any advice :(

I don't know what kind of relationship you have... but being supportive is never a bad thing. If he wants to talk, talk. Deep down, I think all fathers have a soft side for their kids.

Instead of focusing on the overwhelming negatives, you can always look at some positives of this... it may be a chance to be closer to your dad. Who knows. I don't know your dad or what type of person he is, or your relationship with him... but seeing as how my dad is my best friend, it's a great relationship to have.

Rent a .357 and some 38 specials, and take him to the shooting range.

Best way to take out your anger.

Live with me :D

I've got lots of farm animals and small children. And corpses.

Apparently i like to screw farm animals, chilrdren and dead people
Thats not even 34 percent true

Hmm...My parents divorced when I was 12 and my dad is an acoholic. I understand (mostly) what he's going through. It's probably different though because we were a much closer family than what Charles describes.

Make Ikerous porn, it'll work, plus it's hawt. Your father will love it.

Yeah, good luck...

Oh, I know! Get him a grill/smoker! Barbecues ftw! :D

Get him some cubans.

:D

Yeah... they'll be able to roll great cigars for your dad, and they don't ask for very much.

If you need reference, watch Seinfeld.
