Have any of you heard about the issues that many folks are having with their brand new 360s? Apparently games are freezing up a lot and often turning off completely. Are any of you early adopters having similar issues with your units?

Lots of posts/views here and here and many other spots. A shame really, but I think it has to do with rushing this thing to market. Hopefully it'll be fixed for the second or third price cut. :E

LOL, the one link has 7 pages of people with issues. Ouch. I feel bad for those people.

You're acting as if this is different to any console launch. Out of the millions of consoles produced, of course some are going to have faults.

It's the same at any console launch really. Theres going to be faults and they'll be fixed over time with later shipments.

Come to think of it. Nintendo are the only company that doesn't really have faults in their released consoles. At least, I don't hear about any.

Yep, any new console that has just been released can have faults, thats not to say its all of them, but i feel sorry for the people that do have faults, luckily i have never had a fault with any of my consoles.

I'm not acting any way actually. I am just:

A.Letting people know that there are certain known issues that others are experiencing too

and

B.Asking if any of the people on this site that have gotten theirs already are having similar issues.

Of course every new technology launch has its own share of problems. This just happens to be the first big batch for this launch so I thought I would bring some attention to it. Its worth it if simply to know that there are others that share your pain if you are having any difficulty with your system.

Its mostly the same handfull of people posting over and over. Ya these guys have like 2 posts so they joined xbox.com to get tech support. You got to figure there are probably alot more people that didn't go online to complain too though.. don't know :) Shippers and recievers need to be gentle. hard drives are particularly sensative.

I wouldn't start laughing yet Sony fans... I've heard that the development units were catching on fire and shit LOL... like everyone of them overheating till destruction and Sony fired someone and they back on the drawing board. Something about inadaquite ventilation. Those things are rumored to run hot as ****

Just a rumor though.. like sony would ever let that leak out on purpose

I know i had 5 dreamcasts, 3 PS1's, 3 PS2's and my Xbox had a noisy hard drive .. i didnt notice untill my brother got one and his was quiet. so i returned it and got a new one no problem. Never had any problem with a nintendo product

One thing about Sony though, don't be surprized if they come packed with a sheet that says "DEFECTIVE? DO NOT RETURN TO RETAILER CALL 1-800-LOL"
SONY puts huge stickers on their stuff they expect you to ship it back to them for repair? **** that! I don't know though, some stores may swap out a defective one.. stores like wal-mart

Why wouldn't Sony want you to get a swap? Surely it's easier for all involved if you just take it back to the shop you bought it from for an exchange.

Well, if you experience problems two days after launch, I can guarantee that you won't have to pay for any of it if indeed you have to send it to Sony for repair/replacement. Plus, if demand is that high for these units, it is oftentimes not even possible to return it from whence you bought it since they are probably sold out of them altogether. It would probably be quicker just to send it back to the manufacturer.

FYI:This isn't a bash Microsoft thread, just in case none of you know. Its a thread meant to inform people on this forum about issues other 360 owners are experiencing. Don't try to turn it into anything else (especially a Sony-bashing thread--you know who you are ;)).

because alot of large retailers just throw them in the garbage and right them off , or give them to staff at more of a discount.

plus those retailers arnt going to really write down whats wrong with it if they do send it back, where as if the customer gets it repaired sony or who ever will get a detailed explaination on whats wrong with it.

Im not sure about the other systems, but every Sony system that sells, sony database gets a phone call and they record info about location, price, and date of purchase thats tied into the serial number

I tried to return mine after about 9 months mine was getting disc read errors everytime (this ended up being a lawsuit that sony lost but i didnt find out untill 5 years later((the other day))) anyway they called up sony and sony was like NOoooOO but of course it was 9 months after date of purchase so I would expect anyone to be like that.. JUST saying, they record info on it--so if your system is acting strange or not working, return it promptly to exchange it for a working one is my advice :)

The problem with this launch that is different from others is that there are no replacement 360s if you happen to get a faulty one. They were warning us about that when we were in line to pick ours up. Thankfully mine works perfectly.

so are you still sick? or have you recovered for your horrible cold

It's better. I don't feel like death anymore. Cramming down as much water helps but having my 360 makes up for it.

I only buy Nintendo consoles so I've never seen a console launch like this one. I guess I should rephrase that. I only buy Nintendo consoles so I never cared about how poorly MS and Sony's console releases have been in the past. I'm surprised about it to be honest. I've never heard of a Microsoft product that didn't run perfectly as advertised right out of the box before. I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

At least the vast majority of the people who bought the Xbox are problem free enjoying one of the best launch lineups ever. I'm sure Nintendo has had faulty units in their console releases as well. I was just shocked to see so many different xbox communities with so many threads talking about so many problems. I know it's only the vocal minority that is upset and I know most people are happily playing away.

The reason people are going to be more vocal than other launches is this consol is much harder to get your hands on and there are no replacements. So when something goes wrong it's a major bummer. It's not just a drive back to the store to replace it. You are going to have to wait a long time.

Also internets are in more and more homes every day. so like just a few years ago even for the PS2 and Xbox i wasn't surfing the net much myself.

My friend had a weird issue where the 360 would recognize PGR3 as a DVD movie and try to play it as one or something...probably his fault though lol

thank you mister bush.

What do you mean?
Internet/s? plural? oh i saw it on a movie last night right before typing. Is that gramaticaly incorrect? ;p

I was saying that I couldn't have heard about people complaining about a launch before becuase I didn't have internet access--along with many other people. Even my mom and dad have internet PC's now
