Just wondering, what are you guys' favorite implant combinations and tactics to go with them.

My favorite's so far are:

Medium
MK108
Cyber Plant
Medi Plant
SWC

With this i'll usually go lone wolf and do some hacking. Usually though, i'll just do some long range shooting for MINI gun Heavies. The Cyber Plant is just for when I manage to fight my way to a hacking station, but my teams hackers are incapable of getting to me. This is mainly my heavy killing setup. Just a few shots to the face with the MK and you can take down any heavy.

Medium
Assault Rifle
TAC
Medi Plant
SWC

With this, i'll usually either tag allong with a Heavy, spot and heal for him, then go in and do cleanup while he's reloading (since heavy reloads are so long), or i'll form a squad with some other Medium's and do the healing/spotting. The SWC gives a nice boost for the TAC and Medi Plant.

Light
Shotgun
Thermals
Stealth
SWC

With this i'll do some obvious espionage. I found out that if you stay still for a few seconds, you become COMPLETELY invisible. Completely as in, no predator style silhouet. The thermals are REALLY usefull for when you run into an enemy ninja who starts messing with your team. It's extremely easy to sneak up on him and stab him while he's wrapped up in trying to take out your team. The SWC just gives you those few extra seconds of stealth needed to stab that heavy in your face, or those few extra milliseconds needed to take back those turrets :)

Heavy
Ion Cannon
Thermals
<depends on how the rounds going>

I barely ever go heavy, but this is my heavy setup. The only times I go heavy are at the beggining of the round, when we get pushed back to the last point, and when we are lacking heavies. Still, I don't go heavy unless there's only one or two of them, and everybody else is hacking and just medicining. I think that all heavies should carry thermals, it makes the job of base defense much easier, and they make ion cannon shots much easier. Even still though, when i'm heavy, I usually only use my fists and punch people out.

Good game, I really hope they plan on adding more implants. Then I can REALLY start to customize.

:)

I use a very very similar loadout:
Medium
MK808
TAC
Medic
SWC

I always pick a competant offensive teammate and stick with them, the medic implant (great way to earn points) and the TAC scanner are really useful. The MK808 is really my kind of gun too, but loses its usefulness when confronted with more than 2 opponents hence hiding behind (read: healing) a teammate.

I really enjoy Dystopia as well, I love the way it becomes teamwork oriented without forcing the player into it.

Light
Stealth
Extra Energy Thingermaboob
Shotgun/Boltgun

If possible, I'll run right up to someone and shoot them with the Boltgun or Shotgun alt fire point blank then run circles around them

I like to use light and medium mostly, heavy is for noobs.

light
stealth
cyber
bomb
swc

Medium
MK108
Cyber Plant
Medi Plant
SWC

Or when there are almost no Heavies

Heavy
Rocketlauncher
Sound Wave Triangulator
Leg Boosters
Sound Surpressor

OK! I just found my new calling!

Light
Shotgun
SWT or Therms
Stealth
Energy Boost

I'm getting really good at being a Ninja. Just last round with Cyberpitz, I managed to get from the beggining of the punk second spawn, all the way to the middle spawn, clear out the middle spawn, and then almost hack the core, all while gathering a nice what, 5-7 kills on the way :D

I've hardly played it, but I was generally a medium with machinegun, SWC, thermals and mediplant. Did very well at putting holes in would-be-ninjas trying to sneak around with stealth (seems none of them ever bothered to use EMP nades) and also at taking out stragglers in big firefights while healing people.

Punk > Light > Stealth, Nuke, Extra energy, Cyberdeck.

Swawn. Run like hell to the first objective while someone opens the back doors. Capture first objective in under a minute. Immediately run STRAIGHT UP to the second objective, in stealth, while the enemies are still wondering what the hell just happened.

Now, normally at this point I hack the spawn, then if the Corps haven't caught on, I hack the defences, then just dash to the core. Half the time I die, lose my advantage, and then just stick with my team and move on slowly... the other half I actually manage to win the game without dying.

Now, I haven't tryed this, but I think it might be possible to hack the core defences but NOT the spawn... then the enemy would think you died half way through hacking and not bother to run all the way to the core to defend it. That means you could sneak past, and have the core all to yourself... muhahaha. The airlock might not work unless you hack the spawn though.. :(

No, it takes about 10 seconds to arm, and suicide, yes it works, seen it happen with NO SPAWNS captured whatsoever.

I don't think it does, I remember I hacked the Core and not the spawn and tried to go further on (Almost empty server) and I couldn't because I hadn't hacked the spawn.

I don't have any favourites, I just mix it up each time, more fun that way. :D

Can you detonate the Cortex Bomb manually?

No- it automatically starts charging itself when you get anywhere under 20 hp. If you die before it's fully charged, nothing happens. If you stay alive for long enough, it detonates. It's really fun to just dash tawards the enemy, get completely shredded by bullets, then make one last stumbling charge into the enemy lines- leaving a trail of blood behind you. If they can't kill you in time...

beb..beeb...BEEB... Goodybe.

BOOM, your enemies' limp bodies are blown away.

Of course, sometimes you get stuck into a huge firefight, then actually manage to pull through victorious... with only 5 hp left. You're just standing there, your enemies coprses lying around you, with that infamous "Goodbye" ringing through your ears. Then you blow up.

I'm never on 20 health. I'm either on 40+ or I'm dead.

That "Goodbye" will be as famous as "I don't think so sista!" one day...

Lol I don't even need thermals to see stealthed players, as a Hidden : Source player I can see 'em perfectly :D

The blood decals always give them away

Blood decals barely stick.

I just found out that the SWT is much more versatile than the Therms. With the SWT, you can not only pinpoint enemy ninjas, but you can also pinpoint enemy locations, without jumping into the fray. Only thing is that it doesn't automatically TELL your teammates about it, like the TAC, but i'm sure somebody with a mic could quickly remedie that.

OH GOD!

I just found my FAVORITE combo!

Medium
Grenade Launcher
SWT (the sound pinpointer)
Thermals
Medi Plant
SCT (the energy booster)

You become a walking fortress! Anything in your way gets a grenade to the face, and the versatility of this combo is awesome! You can stand by a door, listen to it with SWT for a while, open, shoot the place up with your GL, then close the door and detonate them all at once.

Plain white. Even more obvious than being uncloaked actually.
Shhht, you fool! Don't make the devs notice this :p

played dystopia for the first time today
woah does it take getting used to
i found myself on my own more times than i could count as the game went on without me
it looks and feels like multiplayer deus ex 1 except with objectives - can't say i like it much, as deathmatch its passable

Too late! This will be fixed in the next update!
I'm guessing DX7 can't render the exact same render, so could you post a comparison between both? Might be another reason to upgrade, I keep hearing about how cool the EMP effect is.

Whats the big diff between light and medium?

And so far, this is my fav. setup:

Light
Laser gun
Hacker thingy
Thermal
Stealth
Leg boosters

With leg boosters, you can run must faster. It uses up energy, but its long enough to take out several guys. I use a laser gun, I should use a shotgun, but a laser gun actually allows me to snipe, and you can take out heavies pretty easily with it, if you hit them in the head. Since im moving around so much, the bolt launcher is impossible to use.

But really, stealth, leg boost, and its like impossible to hit you. Its even better if they use thermal, because then you can run around them and they cant tell you from their teamates, and get all confused. Guahahahahahahaha.

My current favourite load out is:

heavy, ion cannon, thermal, legboosters

I find it most satisfying to pretend not to see enemy stealthers. Just as they close in on you with their katana out, hit em with an ion and follow it up with a fatman fist. Turning a light into a hail of gibs with the fist is wonderful :)

When i'm using my Fortress loadout (medium, GL, SWT, Therms, Medi Plant, Energy boost), my favorite thing to do is let a light chase me around with his katana, then wait for him to run to the next room to regroup, SWT him out, then run back in and run him in circles with my katana :rolling:

SWT is like a built-in wallhack - I like it!
I would say more about tactics, but Teddy might pick up on it before our Sourceball Dev Team vs Team Dystopia match :)
