As title says.

Mine is definitely "The Call of Ktulu" (by Metallica if you don't already know)

What's yours?

Either YYZ by Rush or Stream of Conciousness by Dream Theater.

Not including actual instrumental bands, that'd be too easy :)

Stream of Conciousness by Dream Theater.

I love Train of Thought, but that's easily my least favorite instrumental of theirs. Hell's Kitchen and Erotomania are far better.

Heh, I'm the other way around. Train of Thought is my least favourite album (maybe on par with Octavarium, but the last two tracks redeemed that), but SoC freakin rocks. I like Erotomania almost equally as much, I just don't think it kicks *quite* as much ass.

I'm probably basing this more on the live performances of these (DVD, anyway), I've always seen their studio recordings to be secondary to those, and Stream of Conciousness is pretty epic on Live in Budokan.

The Museum - Muse
The Gallery?

Secret Chiefs 3 - Exodus

Liquid Tension - Biaxident

(Side project with all members of Dreamtheater except the bass player, in case you didn't know)

The first ones that come to mind are "Terminal Frost" and "One of These Days" by Pink Floyd.

Call of Ktulu - Metallica - S&M versions
Any Dream Theatre ones :D

Death to our friends by the sonic youth is ****ing ace...i don't know if its my fav though.

I don't think I could name my favorite since I love so many of them.

The entire suspended animation album by John Petrucci (especially Jaws of Life and Lost Without You)
Acid rain, biaxident, when the water breaks from liquid tension (a bunch of others from the two albums as well)
Revontulet from Sonata Arctica
All of E.S Postumus's album, unearthed.
other DT instrumentals like SOC and DOE
All the grim fandango music which is all instrumental
chuck mangione music like main squeeze and children of sanchez
the list goes on....

IS there any instrumental song or songs out there that sound like a rocky coldplayish kind of tune. similar to air and stuff. i really love those kind of music, makes u feel other worldly..

Nine Inch Nails - Leaving Hope

Quite possibly the most beautiful instrumental I've ever heard.

Tool - Triad is pretty awesome.

Out of Egypt, Into the Great Laugh of Mankind, And I Shake The Dirt From My Sandals As I Run by Sufjan Stevens.

Long ****ing name, but amazing song. Its even better if it happens to be raining outside when you're listening to it. Absolutely amazing.

Also, God Moving Over The Face Of The Water by Moby. I'll give you a hint if you've never heard it. Its that song at the end of Heat.

You know it now.

Nice thread. Hm, can't think of a favourite, but recently I really liked "Drove through ghosts to get here" by "65 Days of Static".

Nine Inch Nails - Just Like You Imagined

Another Version of the Truth is a good one as well.

Wow, how could I forget:

Devin Townsend - Down and Under

One of the best build ups I've ever heard.

All you Need is Love
The Beatles.

Hey Jude
The Beatles

A Day In The Life
The Beatles

Best instrumentals.

I dont think 'All You Need Is Love' is an instrumental.

Erotomania and Dance of Eternity.

There isn't a second of DoE that I don't like. The piano part, the odd time changes, the bass riffs, the guitar riffs; It's just music at its finest!

Hell, here is a video for the song.

And this is how Mike Portnoy counts it...
