Modern:Needled 24-7 - Children of Bodom
Classical:...And Justice For All - Metallica

Soilwork - Spirits Of The Future Sun
Children Of Bodom - Bodom After Midnight
Dimmu Borgir - Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy
Arch Enemy - Enemy Within

I can't pick one, sorry.

Modern: Opeth Blackwater Park

Classical: Metallica Fight Fire with Fire

An absolute classic...Nothing Else Matters, Metallica.
Heavier I'd go for 'Childer Of The Grave' by Black Sabbath :D

Modern:
Children of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll / Angels Don't Kill.
Machine Head - Imperium
Dimmu Borgir - Hybrid Stigmata
Fear Factory - Digimortal

Classic(ish):
Manowar - Warrirors of The World / Fighting The World
Iron Maiden - Two Minutes to Midnight
Megadeth - The World Needs a Hero

That was difficult.

Hallowed be thy Name is the greatest metal song ever crafted.

tough choice...

classic: metallica - sanitarium/orion
modern: system of a down - streamline/metro/war

Those are two songs, just to let you know. And, I don't think that Hate Crew Deathroll is one of the best songs, but to each his own.
I think he may have thought that the Hate Crew Deathroll part was referring to the album title, not the song name.

Children of Bodom are spectacular. They could easily wipe out any other modern band that call themselves metal. I'll have to add "Silent Night, Bodom Night" and "Children of Bodom" to the list. From older metal I'll go with a random Iron Maiden song, lets say "Powerslave" because it's playing right now ;)
