What is your Favourite Band and why?

I love the Lostprophets, they have members that go in and out, and members that stay in the band. They also vary from genres from song to song, not much, but it is enough to make me like them due to not listening to the same genre from 1 band I like.

Meshuggah.

Would have been Drowning Pool, but David Williams died, and I can't live with one CD...

(And I can't find their underground CD ANYWHERE.)

As of lately its At the Drive-In, Sodom, Coheed and Cambria, Pink Floyd, Anthrax, Primus, Fugazi and The Devin Townsend Band. Couple of them are general faves. that will always (I presume) remain at the couple of these 'top things) but they do move around alot, sometimes depending on what albums I've got on my MP3 in the current week/month.

(Also - Lostprophets 'Fake Sound of Progress' album is brilliant, that was on my MP3 not long ago.)

Muse, consistantly good :P

Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta and ATDI are up there too.

Axis of Advance

All of the brutality and hatred of life, along with the timelessness with which to escape it :smoking:

Phish
Nine Inch Nails
Jimi Hendrix
The Shins
Boards of Canada
Radiohead
Aphex Twin

it's a seven-way tie. I love my musics.

Do I really need to post it?

But seriously, I have a lot of favorite bands and to say NIN is it would be shallow.

Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Aphex Twin
Benny Benassi
Muse
Audioslave
Fatboy Slim
Filter
Phish
Moby

Yeah, most of those aren't exactly "bands" but whatever.

Also...

YOU FORGOT TOOL ENNUI!

Shit, I did.

Eight-way tie, then.

They announced a new album afaik! I'm unbelievably excited, and there's a rumor going about that they'll be playing at the local concert arena too :D

Tool are playing Reading Festival here in UK so I'll be getting me a day ticket for that as soon as I can. There was talk of Pearl Jam, too, but I think its been dismissed. That would of been abit too good.

I have been listing to HIM a lot in the past week or 2. I do not have a favorite band though.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Muse. Muse are awesome live, that is indeed another reason to be going. Franz Ferdinanz I'm not too keen on - catchy tunes, though.

(Also, get some Tool!)

I shall fire up my file sharing program and search other peoples computers for it.

Then i shall go ask them where they bought it from

Its been in the pipeline for awhile now, its just taking its sweet time finishing and being released. It shouldn't be long now...

Supertramp

The way they combine different styles of music is just awesome.

Neutral Milk Hotel. Jeff Mangum is a reclusive, anti-social god amongst boys.

Pearl Jam

One of the best rock bands ever to emerge from the USA. Each album's different. You can always tell a great band when their B-side songs are sometimes better than the songs that make the album. They've been together for over a decade and are still making awesome music. 2 of their members are somewhat "godfathers of grunge" due to being involved in previous bands which were infuential to the genre before forming Pearl Jam.

When their video for Jeremy got censored they decided not to make any music videos which pissed off MTV. They also tried to sue ticketmaster for charging too high a price for tickets.

Here's a timeline: http://www.rockonthenet.com/artists-p/pearljam_main.htm

I thought we already had a thread like this...but whatever....

my choice is a tie between Bob Dylan and The Beatles

But if I revived it, I woulda got shot for casting rez

They Might Be Giants

They are the epitome of me: weird.

But I also like Radiohead, The Shins, Ben Folds (Five), and the Dandy Warhols.

Meshuggah. I lhave other tops too, like Lamb of God, Slipknot, etc. but Meshuggah is just crazily skilled.

Pink Floyd
Radiohead
Red hot chili peppers
The Doors
David Bowie

and my new fav Sufjan Stevens:D

I put my top 3 in no particular order:

The White Stripes
Nine Inch Nails
System of a Down

I don't know what you mean by that *confused*! What about Do The Evolution, Love Boat Captain, Spin The Black Circle? They made a couple of videos for Ten as well.

Back on topic, I don't have a favourite band, there's too many to choose from. ><

They always release a limited number for the next year's the week after the festival. So I got home from Reading 2005 on the monday, pre-ordered my tickets for 2006 on the tuesday. Have to be quick about it though, theres normally only a few thousand available (if that).

My favourites -
1. Nirvana
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers
3. Smashing Pumpkins

In short, both grunge and the 90's ruled.

ah right, i've been disappointed by the last few years line ups so i wouldn't ever buy tickets without having some idea of the line up

Thats right, yeeey. Although someone mentioned a rumor to me uyesterday that Tool are actually away the weekend of Reading in... well, I've forgotten the place but he got it from a mate and thats not the best source of information so yeeey still. I'm going to Download as it is as its a fantastic weekend plus Metallica, Clutch and Deftones and hopefully some other good bands to be announced, but I'll be adding Reading to my list for Tool fo' sho. And Muse.

Tastes change, my favourite now is Jimmy Eat World, sometimes RHCP's, Rage Against the Machine, Arctic Monkeys, Muse etc...
