FBI/DEA thwart terror plot in U.S. involving Iran

It's alright, I'm not mad anymore. Anyway, you 're correct, but by the same token can't you say it's possible this DEA agent is stringing along some part of the DEA by making up a fake Iranian agent as well? Falsified information in security agencies happens all the time, by the nature of all the internal disconnections they have. If he were paid some sum of money to do it, guaranteed immunity from backlash, never told but merely implied that it was from the hands of someone higher-up in the agency... I mean, for all we know he's the kind of guy who imagines himself a system-bucking vigilante helping America Fight the Good Fight. Maybe he'd do it.

Well there was a 100k down-payment from a foreign bank account which the US authorities apparently believe (for some reason) to be linked to or under the control of the Quds.

Oh as for what the Zetas would have gotten out of it had the deal happened*, 1.5m is just the beginning:
Arbabsiar and the DEA informant also reportedly discussed bombing the Israeli embassy in Washington and the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Argentina, as well as opening Zeta trafficking routes for opium from the Middle East through Mexico.

*assuming reports are accurate

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the slightly weird, shaky nature of the borderline entrapment that seems to have happened here. The whole 'plot' was from the beginning partly conceived and instigated by US agents, from what I understand of the case.

That may be true but they only started stringing him along after HE (The Suspect) made initial contact.

Thats a pretty common thing here in the land of the Free.

So what, good news shouldn't be reported?

Would you describe making a thread on the HL2.net forums reporting though? The story certainly is good, well done FBI/DEA *pats back*. But, speaking in very general terms, generation of good conversation usually comes from the unusual or large scale events, which more likely than not is something bad. Evidence to support this is from the allegations of weed smoking and the ripping on of poor grammar that this thread consists of.

Anyway, me complaining about the lack of good conversation here is doing nothing to generate good conversation, so I'll shut my mouth.

Yeah those insults are pretty unusual for a politically charged thread on these boards, good call.
