FEAR: Extraction Point

I hope it isn't as dull as FEAR itself.

Well, in the Gamespy interview it is promising to add more interesting locations, such as a church and the obliterated city. Anyway, expansions tend to be more focused, cutting out the riffraff. ROE is a prime example of an expansion being better than the game itself.

I wonder about something.

Monolith was in conflict with Vivendi (why am I not surprised?), and before they terminated their contract... Vivendi got the rights to the F.E.A.R. title, but Monolith is working on a sequel.

So we now have an odd situation.
Vivendi hired another studio to make an expansion, a direct continuation of the story.
Monolith is working on a sequel, but will be forced to release it with a diferrent name. Will it also be a direct continuation of FEAR's story?

Yey Monolith is making a sequel, I didn't know that. When I heard that Vivendy got the rights for FEAR I thought there wasn't going to be a sequel. I guess this is somethig like what's happening with Supreme Commander.

My impression, which may be untrue:
Vivendi owns the name f.e.a.r. and have the rights to make one or more expansions (episodes?) based on the original with original assets and the original engine.
Monolith owns the engine and all assets (including all characters of the original game) but not the actual name f.e.a.r.

Both are working on titles based on f.e.a.r., which I think is good since I found f.e.a.r. reasonably amusing, allthough a tad too scary.

.bog.

FEAR was very good. Scared me a good bit and was fairly exiting. I hope these are good.

It didn't scare me at all, but I did enjoy the firefights quite a bit.
