Well I just completed it. Right now its been a good half an hour and my heart is still beating like a crazy mofo.

I was in the dark, head phones on.. and omg , put it this way.. it successfully turned me into mesh at the end. I was physically jumping, shivering, and at points near the end saying out loud 'oh no, no no',

I cannot wait to see mesh actually play the later level's, haha.

Anyway I thought id just express appreciation since im on a high right now.. because the end nearly turned me into a teenaged girl.

and another OMG.

Loved it.

The ending was so good. I'm already looking forward to seeing it again and I'm 1/2 way through on my 3rd playthrough :)

I just started it :|

Hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as you did...

QFT, the end was the only thing that actually had me freaked out. The shocks through the first three-quarters were good, but nothing really disturbing... the (spoiler) floating dudes that warped out in front of you were horrible. And that noise they made... eugh.

If you were scared of FEAR, play silent hill and you'll be put into a 5 year coma.

i didnt find FEAR all that scary to be honest... even when alone in the dark with my headset on
i found that it became too predictable
great game nontheless

I dont fancy a coma right now, worth a try later definately.

Im only just starting to calm down, dont think il forget those end images anytime soon.. seriously Im probably going to have nightmares.. Thats the most freaked out and scared ive been from a computer game or movie, period.

I hate how in the begining section they decided tohave dead people's faces flash in front of the screen in order to scare you. I call cheap scare tactics.

I hate fighting those ghost things, they weren't fun at all; nothing like the Replicas or those robots, which were.

Well, to be honest I haven't completed the game yet. Right now I'm at the point where Alma is now the teenage version and is slowly walking toward you in that hospital dream. At first I thought I would be teleported out shortly after Alma killed the doctors in the room but I turned around and she was there.
*bam bam!*
*bam bam bam!*
*Alma disappears*
Me: Phew!
*Alma reappears*
Me: Ohshinodonthurtmeplznekkidgirl!
*pow! Pow Pow!-
/dead

I'm too afraid to complete the game. D:

I hope the ending is better than just a bunch of jumpy places. :/

lol, id correct that spoiler quickly .. text is the wrong colour :P

but yeh the ending physically makes your chest go tight, you dont want the arm tingling sensation along with that though.

haha, oh, it is.

Yeah, I hated those images that flashed up at the beginning, they felt really out of place

Meh, an overrated game it is. It was ok, but very average.

You want scare factor, go play Condemned.

Hmm I felt it was worth it, matter of perspective I suppose, Ive play it and didnt find condemned scary atall :/ freaky, yes.

The lack of a disturbed little girl might have something to do with it... the end itself was worth it and so well put together, in comparison condemned's ending was meh, odd men in weird ass gimp costumes are actually quite funny.

I always laughed at the little girl :P

You didn't think Condemned was scary in the least? What about the Orchard house? I was shitting :(
Guess its just your idea of horror.

I really need to finish that game, but everytime I try, I get put off fighting identikit goons through the same boring enviroments, I end up turning it off and un-installing.

I want to play it now :(.

When I upgrade my computer for oblivion I'll so be buying this too. You have to play these more immersive games with full graphics.

F.E.A.R isnt really horror. It's scary, sure, but it's far from horror. Play Silent Hill 2 (and by yourself, unless you're a pussy). That's a game that you dont forget. Ive had serious trouble with sleeping after playing through it. Its also got a great story, so you'll want to keep playing despite bleeding from your ass from the ph3ar.

My God, you should stay away from Silent Hill then...Did Doom 3 scare you?? FEAR wasn't scary to me at all....kinda boring.

Silent hill 3 is worse than silent hill 2...not as good of a story as silent hill 2 was, but MUCH more disturbing...only on PS2 though.

I done %40 of the game so far. too scared to play it....

SPOILERS!
Those ghost things scared the shit out of me.
Oh, you know when you actualy kill Fettel and he's kneeling on the ground. Does he actualy say anything if you don't shoot him right away. I just shot him on instinct when I saw him there.
Oh, and did anyone else not realise that you had to run away from Alma during the flashback where she attacks you? Kinda ruined imersion when she killed me.

The bit where you have to jump into your own grave scared the shit out off me too. I was just sitting there for a minute building up the courage to go on.

Good game, awesome ending. Shame about the repetition though.

Hmm, sounds like fun. I might have to pick it up. What kind of performance do you guys get with lower end comps? I only have a 9600xt 512mb ram and a 2500 amd.

Crazy INSANE game. Loved it one of the best endings of ALL time.

I thought they were pretty lame actually, especially near the end where they just came out from every corner.

SPOILERS!Oh, you know when you actualy kill Fettel and he's kneeling on the ground. Does he actualy say anything if you don't shoot him right away. I just shot him on instinct when I saw him there.

No, I'm pretty sure he just sits there quietly until you put a bullet into his head. I liked how you killed him though, expected a, like in plenty of other FPS's, lame end boss fight.

SPOILERS!Oh, and did anyone else not realise that you had to run away from Alma during the flashback where she attacks you? Kinda ruined imersion when she killed me.

You can actually just shot her, put a bunch of bullets into her with the pistol and she'll disappear.

---END OF SPOILERS---

Awesome game though, I was just disappointed in how bad it ran on my computer. Given the fact that it doesn't even look as good as Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 it's ridiculous how bad it run when those two run smooth as a baby skin.

the first time that i got to the crazy dream sequence part with the teenage alma that you have to shoot i didn't even know she was behind me. I was still trying to look through the glass where the doctor got exploded. After i see the screen flash a few times i'm like "wtf do i do know." I turn around and see alma all up in my grill, I'm all like SHITSHITSHITSHITBAMBAMBAMdie.

One day.. I am going to buy all the Silent Hill games and play them.. from the looks of it... I am missing out on some quality shit.

I also shot Fettel instinctively.. I love that aspect in a FPS. Right when I saw him from the flashback I was like,"Holy shit!" *pop*.. then I took a quick break.. re-thought what just had happened... I was amazed.

WHY F.E.A.R IS NOT SCARY
by Darksabre

"HOLYFCUKOMGOMGOMGOMG"

"What's the matter Jimmy?"

"Oh it's just this game, F dot E dot A dot R dot"

"Ah Fear, well what about it Jimmy?"

"Well I was running through this incredibly repetitive environment when I saw this little girl...and since little girls have cooties I thought 'shit I must pump her full of lead' like what I did to Susie from school. And then she came towards me...and thinking that she wanted to play touch and kiss (another way to get cooties) I soiled myself knowing that she was a scripted sequence"

"A nice long sentence there son, but do you realise that all they were doing was employing cheap scare tactics"

"Cheap scare?..."

"YOU ARE ADOPTED!!!"

"Oh I see, so all they are doing is make me jump in my seat, causing me to lose all those delicious big macs I had earlier?"

"You learn quick Jimmy, and it's such a pity that games like this don't employ other ways to scare you like in other horror games. Say Jimmy, did you know you have aids?"

"Oh god! Do I really?"

"Well we will discuss that later, but the point is you weren't pissing yourself. Instead you were scared by the disease itself, such as a disgusting creature in a game. An example of this might be Elmo from the popular horror series Nightmare on Sesame St."

"Man was I ever stupid for shitting myself"

"You sure were Jimmy, you sure were"

Fear scared me in two places...

1. The infamous naked Alma making people internally combust and in the end walking creepily towards you.

2. That "thing" in the vent, I think this is where the devs hit the exact right chord. You didn't see the thing, nor do you ever encounter it for the rest of the game...and that's what makes it scary. It's the fear of the unknown, and hearing something bumping in the vents, looking at corpses getting eaten by an unseen creature...and later on finding out that going into those exact same vents to progress makes it really scary since not only is it a confined space (so you are ****ed if you want to get out in a hurry) but it's also dark.

Fear was a great game, but the horror side was lacking...

I thought the story to FEAR was just plain awesome, and the story is what made it even more scary for me. I get into games that I like, ALOT. So I was pretty much the soldier..and I kinda started to adopt feelings as if it was real life...

Plus I mean..a little girl in a red dress with bloody footprints....for gods sake, that alone gives me goosebumps :(

I loved the game, and teh VERY last thing you see at the end of the game was imprinted into my mind..and the best ending ever.

You know what I'm talking about. :)

Overall i enjoyed F.E.A.R a lot. Good graphics (if not poorly optimized, especially the shadows), loved the slow mo, even if it has been done before a number of times, was still great. Fairly decent story, if not a little vague at times, and a good ending (they'd better damn well make a sequel !).

I would agree that it is best played on a decent system though, visuals are a large part of the game and without them it wouldn't be quite the same experience imo. Playing through it again sporadically at the moment.

f.e.a.r. was awesome!!! suspence! and the best action to ever take place in a game.

Realy? Lol, never occured to me. Like shooting the garg in HL.

If some people arnt scared by it or dont find it scary .. then no wonder they find it easier to nit pick and generally find it easier to dislike.

Different things obviously scare different people, which is kindof ashame really cause not everyone will beable get the full stomach clenching experiance out of the game.

SPOILER!
Jesus, when Alma is blowing up the wharehouse, scared the crap out of me too. And the bit where you climb onto a ladder and when you turn around she's there. Good thing they stoped with the Alma thing after a while. You'd just get sick of it otherwise.

Awesome game imo. Scared the complete and utter crap out of me. I genuinely closed my eyes in sheer terror at some bits; I've never done that before, even during a film. The only thing I can think of that was similar was turning my PS2 off at one point in Silent Hill 2.

*SPOILERS!!*
I loved the game, and teh VERY last thing you see at the end of the game was imprinted into my mind..and the best ending ever.
You mean the part after the credits? Well I guess you heard that :-\

Anyway, the game rocked, only really scared me in the first half, after that I got used to Alma.

The problem was that I'd get all tensed up and afraid...then a little girl would walk past and nothing happened. If something actually happened or the little girl did something to me or SOMETHING, then I'd be more afraid. But it got to the point "oh it's just the dumb little girl who likes to walk around" :-\

My body got used to it, I got used to it.

And the end (well, besides the *spoilers* AMFG NAKED ALMA!
*/spoilers* ) didn't scare me much either, since it took so long for the demons to attack. Then I just shot them a couple times, and it was over.
What gets to me is the anticipation of something scary happening. When nothing really scary happens, I get jaded. I only finished the game to see the ending which I heard was cool :-\

Exellent, exellent game. Definately the best one I've played since HL2. There damn well better be a sequel.

I turned my PS1 off when I was playing silent hill 1..I got to the evil school, looked around for 30 seconds and said, that's enough, and shut it off...I couldn't play that game for 2 days after....then I finally finished it..and was extremely impressed...when I played Silent Hill 2, it wasn't as scary as silent hill 1.

I'm not entirely sure how any of the Silent Hill games were scary (except for the labyrinth area with pyramid head) but they do put you in a drab mood (atleast me). I still think the original Silent Hill had the best gameplay (it felt so open-ended exploring the town) and the second had the best story.

Anyway F.E.A.R.? It doesen't look at all like my kind of game to be honest. It seems more of a game oriented towards graphics which I could care less about. The demo was just dull I thought.

F.E.A.R=mediocre shooter and a shity benchmark
