SO. It looks like in addition to the new FEAR universe stand alone game not called fear (forgot it's name) there is also a new expantion pack (which can be stand alone too) coming out for the original FEAR.

I'm getting the demo now but IGN's article (http://pc.ign.com/objects/949/949606.html) makes it sound like it will be a cheap spin off.

Apparently you're another team that was around but nobody ever talked about. Apparently you fought stuff that the other guys never saw (good bye suspension of disbelief). Apparently, I'm thinking this will suck.

We'll see tomorow when I download it for play.

IIRC, Vindeti *or whatever* has the rights to FEAR, while the real creators of it moved off to make Project ...god damn you rum, quit ruining my memory!, and the expantion pack for FEAR is from Ven, while the project game is from the real people....

Vivendi has the rights to the FEAR name. That's it.
The Project Origin developers have the rights to all the other content
(characters storyline etc).I know, confusing as hell.Thank our lovely legal system.

Yeah, I know. Well I'm downloading it now, so I'm going to go to bed, and play this biotch.

I've already played this demo a while ago, and it's garbage. The first expansion Extraction Point wasn't bad, but this, this is :x. If you thought that the environments in the original FEAR were lacking in detail, well this expansion takes the cake. Like someone else said, it has almost 0 environmental detail:sleep:.

So my point is, if you liked the original FEAR just wait for the real sequel made by Monolith, Project origin.

Alright, I just finished playing it. I had forgotten they where making a new XP for it and apparently it's out in 3 days.

So, here's the break down.

You're another FEAR operative who's squad was doing other things. During the first game where you blow up the facility, this squad gets separated. So, you start off in some sort of "underground" area, and must "hook up" with your squadmate. Apparently, the guy who wakes you up in the beginning isn't the same guy you hook up with, becuase AFAIK they look different. The guy you wake up goes around a corner and you don't see him again, unless he IS the guy you're supposed to go and find again.

Anyways, new weapons and foes it seems. The demo had two new weapons and a new foe. You also start with dual pistols.

K3BT Grenade Launcher -- I found this on a heavy unit. Lobs grenades a short distance and is a nice weapon...but oddly it wasn't in the first game? Seems strange.

VES Advanced Rifle -- I found this on the new enemy, detailed below. It's an ASP that fires blue tracer-looking rounds, and has a smaller, optical scope. Also, as it seems, it causes pretty nasty damage and strips armour fast.

New Enemy, the "Red Eye Trooper". This guy wields the VES or shotgun. They've got a strangely audiable voice. You can hear what they say as if they where saying it normally, and do not have any radio interference. I don't know what role these guys are trying to fill, as we've already seen: Recon, Regular, heavy, super heavy, support, elite soldiers before.

All in all, I give it a 0/100, because they tried to make a new "badass" character that A) Nobody mentioned B) Has the same hyper reflex super power as the two psychic clones in the original FEAR and FEAR Extraction Point. They've blatantly failed, though I may buy it just to have the collection and have beaten it anyways.

>_> Isn't that just lazy of the developers? There were only a few soldiers left from that project and 2 of them just happen to both be in F.E.A.R. ?

It's just a money making scheme.
Like said before, it's best just to ignore this and wait for the real sequel.

The last two fear expansions were not developed by Monolith like the original FEAR. It's simply Vivendi attempting to milk more money out of the franchise before it dies off. I'm hoping Monolith can still make Project Origin successful after it's storyline has been thrashed so much. NOLF 2, AvP 2, and FEAR are 3 of my favorite FPS games, all developed by Monolith.

The soldier in extraction point is the same guy in the original FEAR.

Also I dunno why they make you another random guy with the reflex power who can someone survive all the paranormal stuff that the others can't.

At least it's explained in Project Origin, when you recieve the surgery halfway through the game.

I never played the 1nd expansion, however the Perseus Mandate as the 2nd, is something that a teenager could have created in his basement with some time, jolt and the Fear SDK.

It's total dogshit and I uninstalled it before it could ruin the incredible memories I have from Fear 1.

This is going to be 100% shit. Im waiting for the real fear sequal. Project Origin.

ok so the expansions continue the story after the original FEAR? But in the the first EP you play as the guy from the FEAR original, in the second you play as a new guy?

Project Origin will also continue the story of FEAR? but with a new guy? Yet Alma will be there? CONFUSORZ!

Yeah I saw the preview. I was hoping we where going to play as the same guy from FEAR / ExP. So stupid that we're not.

Wait, we're not?! I'm not getting it now.

Weird isn't it?

I guess its suppose to be canon to the actual plot? since the only people who can use the reflex is the point man and the guy from the project origin. unless, they gonna come up with rushed BS about how the main guy from perseus mandate.

They killed all that was good about fear and totally messed up the story they made on fear. I was actually look forward to how it would continue but they have ****ed it up.
