Uh, is that legal? Isn't it invasion of privacy/data protection act or some shit?
 
Our county has a website listing all the predators within the local counties, and what they were charged for. It's nice to know I think, rahter than not know.

I feel bad for the people on the list. Yes they did horrible things but this is going to affect them the rest of their life. You would think the punishment ordered by the court would be enough but with this site they can be ridiculed and harassed their whole life since people can find out right where they live.
 
Could cause a lot of Felons to go underground, which is more dangerous, as then noone will know their identity.

I think this is a part of the punishment ordered by the court. I mean they legally made it so that they have to register wherever they are. Why do that unless you mean to inform their neighbours about them?
 
Holy shit, all the criminals in my area are aged 50+ Even some 70+ guys.

Info on convictions has always been publicly available, you just had to go look it up at the courthouse or wherever. It's just easier now.

Yeah, while the site does sound like it's a bit crazy, I am fine with it being public. (The link still won't work for me, whatever)

I mean, on my county's site, you can't honestly expect me to look at a 50 yr old woman who molested a 3 month old baby and think "oh, this is really invasive of her privacy"?

Maybe they shouldn't have done the crime if they didn't want it to be known. Also, does anyone else have the "yellow plates" thing? Where your license plate is given a yellow border if you got a DUI so people know?
Well, around here, I know they were thinking about issuing pink borders on license plates for sex offenders. I could see it being problematic, way too many people would harass the hell out of them. Not like I really care though. They decided against the idea eventually.

Anyways, if it wasn't for sites like these, Brian Peppers would have never been discovered. ;)

I have a guy who committed robbery a couple houses down from me.

I also have a person who committed sodomy, and another who was convicted of child misconduct in the 1st degree, in the hills behind my house.

Then I have a 17 year old who was convicted of sexual misconduct with a child, in the 2nd degree.

Also what is "unlawful imprisonment" and how do you get arrested for it?

That one is just for sexual offenders though. And most of them seem to be convicted of pedophile stuff. At least in my area.

Really?! Almost all I listed are all 2nd or 1st degree and I forgot a robbery too. Man, I knew that my area was bad but not this bad. It seems like people in Lowell are sick of the area so they move to the next town over. Unfortunately they bring all their crap with them too. I swear to god 2K games could make a GTA game on Lowell. Tyguy knows about Lowell I bet.

Huh, I typed in my address, and about twenty "offenders" popped up, but if I dragged the map out to another area, none were marked. Does it only mark those within a few blocks of you?
 
I'm going to make a website like this that randomly marks addresses as felons. It'll probably mark the addresses of the people who sign up to the site.
 
Uhh, guys. This is fake. Type the same address in twice, you get different names. Lived in a tiny town of Idaho and not a single name comes up that i recognize. Some names appear where there aren't any houses.

The registered sex offender database is publicly available almost everywhere, but every city has a different system, so it can be tricky to find out who lives in your backyard, and it's impossible to know how careful you should be with your children and how protective you should be of your un-raped genitals, and assorted other protected assets.
