Females in episode 2?

Anyone else notice that there were only 2 women in the entire game? Just alyx, and a short moment where you see the couple from the beginning of hl2. Was this part of the story (hey, that reproduction suppressor is down :naughty: ) or did valve not want the game to spark controversy by putting women into battle or something?

They didn't have a problem putting them into battle in HL2 and Episode One.

There is definitely more women than that. Off the top of my head I remember one running of of the White Forest base when you first arrive, and also there is one standing next to the AR3 guy. There are probably more than that too.

to stay on topic though, i believe the combine might have taken most of the women and turned them into stalkers or maybe combine(mmm female combine(creepy)). orrrrr we can conclude that men are better fighters and survive kickass battles without shredding a tear when their best bud dies next to him in heat of battle.

You must remember , the resistance characters are randomly generated, and on each play through they change. I saw a number of women on different play throughs.

You don't see that many rebels, and many of those guys you do see have new voicework. Perhaps they just wanted to minimize their expenditure and not hire in a female VA to do a little bit of new dialogue for relatively unimportant characters. They seem to have been quite stingy with their Resistance members anyway, since they're still using the same models, skins and faces they've been using for upwards of 3 years.

For an in-universe explanation, with the suppression field down, women are being kept away from fighting as they're being encouraged to incubate babies whilst men go off and protect the cave after having done their bit for the survival of the species. Woo patriarchy.

Of course, since Portal is for Lesbians, it's all good.

Well, I don't think the article is meant to be in any way serious I have to say though, I've heard of a lot more Girls who're into Portal than I have Half-Life (and that's a lot less to do with vagina portals and more to do with the humour and the puzzle-gameplay)

And when you think about it, girls playing Half-Life experience more homoerotic energy since Alyx blatantly has thing for you. Though it's also pretty obvious that you, the player, currently have a you know what stowed away in your pants, since Eli wants you to cut the crap and make with the Protoculture.

If there actually were fewer women observed in Ep2 compared to the other games, I'd imagine it's because the Suppression Field is down and woman are too busy procreating rather than fighting. The only issue with female rebels is simply the fact that they don't have any new speech line, just recycled ones from hl2 and ep1.
