hi, ive never been sure on a few things, so im gonna ask :)

wen someone says they flashed their video card from a non pro to a pro, does this mean they just overclocked it using a tool like rage3d?

i cant think of the other thing rite now but ill post it up later, thanks in advance.

When they say they flashed their 9800np to a pro, it means that they took 9800 pro BIOS and flashed (or applied) them to the 9800np. Basically sets core/mem clocks at a 9800 pro defaults and changes what the card is identified as. I'm sure someone else could explain it better than me though

alrite thanks, i think i got it.
so say if i had a 9600, and i flashed it to a 9800 ( hypothetically ) i would make it so the computer actually thinks it a 9800 and change the core and memory speeds to the 9800's. that sound rite?

That's right. Although if you attempted that your card wouldn't function.. it'd either overheat and die when you turned it on or just not work (I realize you were just clarifying it though :) lol)

Bios flashing is pointless. Just overclock using Tweak3D, it's a lot easier and you get the same results.

thats wot i thought, i mean wot do u want to make the computer think its something better name wise, so u can show off to ur mates ?

Basically, but there's a difference between a BIOS flash and softmod. Softmod's actually unlock certain features on your card that weren't there in the first place. They can only be done on certain cards like some Sapphire 9600se and 9800se's.
