ff6(ff3 for americans) rules, i havnt met anyone from the playstation generation who knows this game

It was hailed as the #1 square game of all time(ff7 as #2) by ffonline.com and i think its the best FF game of all time, followed by FF2(4)

Is anyone else a ff6 fan?

SABIN LIVES!

 Ya damn right! FF6 was the shit, it is the Final Fantasy with most summons as well, 32 I believe.

Yes FF6 (FF3 when I played it on the SNES) is by far my favorite of the series.

not only is it the best ff game i consider it to be the greatest game of all time...the story, the music, the characters are all so perfect. The playstation generation can't stand the graphics. If you ask me they don't deserve to play such a great game :D

excuse me but...no...just no. ff7 < any game ever

:dozey: Guinny do not edit your post, also, relook at what you posted. HAHAHAH!!! "FF7<Any game ever"- HAHAHAAH

guinny is full of shit, seaman was worse than ff7, you can tell hes from the playstation generation because he havnt gotten into greater than/less than in his math class

 I remember I set up a character where I could attack up to 8 times, it was that punching guy, what was his name again?

That's a tough call, they are both good. Sabin was the punching guy.

I never really got into 6. I played for a little, but stopped. Don't remember why... I got pretty far on 5, though. Second world.

Sabin was the punching guy, to do that you needed genji gear and something else...oh right the offering

Of course FF6 is better than FF7, and easily the best in the series.

The only better SquareSoft title is Secret of Mana (imo), as it allows you to share the experience with your mates. Perfect in every way.

i loved both FF6 and FF7 but i think FF7 is the best FF game ever.. slightly beating FF6 of course :)
thats not to say i didn't enjoy FF6.. infact.. i thought Kefka's laugh was a riot
Shadown pwns all

omfg i put the stupid symbol the wrong way. i hate math

Anyone who has played both games at the times of their release will say FF6 is the better of the two. You obviously got into gaming a little late to experience the genius of FF6 first hand.

i played both games at their times of release and i still think FF7 is the greatest FF game ever.
hm.. but u know this is really pointless because its a matter of personal preference as to which game was better.. the common thing being that everyone agrees both games were wonderful in their own way. :)

All FF games are great you cannot compare two of the series becuase of different story line and different characters.

BTW which one had more playing hours roughly, I'm thinking of pulling out some old Roms.

agree! its the rise of casual gamers that spawned advent children :P

and we cant compare FF games now? you wont let me say X2 IIX and IX were bad because they have different story lines? sorry for the flame but thats like saying we cant compare books....

I have'nt played FF6 although i did get it free when i bought FF9 or FF10...I think all the FF's are the best games ever made its just a shame they was never all ported to PC because i dont like using my PS1 anymore :( If i had to choose which was the best id say FF8 closely followed by FF7..i dont know why i just prefered FF8's style over FF7's although Sephroth (sp?) was like the coolest character ever to appear in any game me thinks!. He had badass music to.

I dunno which had the most playing hours but FF10 sure has alot, if you spend the time getting all the dark aeon's (think the last one has 120'000'000 health), my brother's doing it atm using the FF10 guide and hes spent countless hours with a guide trying to get every last thing in the game so imagine without a guide!

Uhh...What's a dark aeon? Do you mean anima, the magus sisters etc? I was under the impression that I got everything there is to get in that game. I went through the entire sphere grid with every char and everything.

I think the aeons can only have 99,999 hp...not sure though, didn't use them much. The highest hp I know of is...hmmm something with an N. You have to capture 10 of every monster in the game to unlock him in the arena. 10,000,000 life. He's practically impossible to beat unless you have all the aeons. It took me a while to figure out how to kill him because he does one of like 4 moves...one of them doing 99,999 to every party member...So I used my aeons as shields :) I got in 13 attacks of 99,999 dmg before his, and when it was just before his turn...I threw yuna in there and summoned. Aeon takes the hit...and I resume kicking ass. Wash, rinse, repeat for about 10 minutes :P

On topic :P

I definitely liked FF7 the best. The characters were all cool...the plotline kept me intrigued. They had the best villain...Sephiroth  I also loved the materia system. It made you pick strategies rather than just having everyone slowly learn every spell in the game. FF6 was also too easy once you equip gengi glove and offering on your most powerful char. I had a lot more fun mastering FF7 as well.

dark aeons are the evil versions of your aeons... i think theyre only in certian releases of the game.

to find em you wander along the map a bit in the last stages of the game, ones present in the starting village

They're only in the European and some other Special Edition version in japan.

I still say FF8 is underrated...on par with FF7 IMO. Though FF6 is a great game, it's only marginally better than the other two I think.

I loved the story, espers, characters of FF6 and especially kefkas laugh, too bad my brother tok the SNES up to oxnard, gotta get some illegal roms :(

Actually I did play both games at the times of their releases. FF7 kicks the crap out of FF6. FF6 is a great game no doubt but FF7 is just so far out ahead its not even funny. Its a class of its own.

Horses for courses.

I didn't like the cyber punky direction FF7 took the series (being more a 'high' fantasy fan). Neither did I like how the fixed perspective was replaced with a more cinematic approach. Sure, the resulting visuals (sense of scale in particular) were impressive, but it messed with the continuity. It's hard to explain - rather than exploration, the experience felt more akin to travelling from one screen to another (ala Monkey Island) Give me a FF4/5/6 castle to run about in any day.

SquareSoft made an obviously conscious decision to make FF 'cooler', and more grown up - but in a very gap jeans kind of way (a trend which continued into FF8). Which brings me onto Cloud and Sephiroth - who both pissed me off (FF7 introduced the sulky teenager to the series)

It just isn't on the same level as FF6 (imo). FF7 lacks the magic, the variety of interesting characters, and doesn't feel as epic. The game world just didn't provide the wonder that FF6's did. (still a fantastic game, though :))

Lastly, out went the cool weapons, armour and many of the items. The equiping screen became rather boring.

All imo of course ;)

(kefka > sephiroth)

Exactly. That's what really bothered me in particular. Also, Cloud is a whiny little bitch.

I..cant continue in this thread. People thinking FF7 isn't the greatest game ever hurts me. Yes i am a fanboy. Id kill a man for a remake of ff7 with updated graphics. id cry in public to have a sephiroth action figure. im a sad sad man when it comes to this game. So before i get more upset im discontinuing in this thread. FF7 IS THE BEST GAME, EVER. DIE IF YOU DISAGREE. :)

 guinny :E
im with u man.. FF7 is the greatest FF game evar!! :p
with updated graphics and sound, it would definitely be wonderful..
Sephiroth action figure? :cheese:

yes, i want a sephiroth action figure. and if i had one, id cream my nut.

Both games are awesome, but I like FF7 better.
But noone cares, right?

ive completed FF6 once, FF7 three times, FF8 two times, FF9 three times, and FF10 twice. My favorite was FF7 and my worst was FF10 (because it had no 3D world map!!1)

IMO FF7 rox0rs completely. FF6 is no comparison in story, it just felt all too rushed and i never got a true feeling for the characters. The world map was good, but i much prefer FF7s, as it is huge and involving.

The best bit of FF7 was starting in midgar, spending that long, dreary stay in the slums... then suddenly bursting out in a super kewl bike! then you stare for about half an hour at the wonderful green... and you think to yourself... "i did it... i escaped... I ESCAPED... I AM FREE!!!"

and from then on, te joy of being able to roam this huge, extensive planet is neverending. Grabbing the airship for the first time was mind blowing- finally i can fly!

but the pinacle of the game is on the brink of disc one (or was it two? nevermind). The most unexpected thing in the whole game suddenly leapt out at you- As aries kneeled praying for holy, Sephorioth came streaming down from the heavens and peirced her with his huge blade. i couldnt resist letting a tear drop as her "useless" materia bounced down the steps, and into the water.

FF7 is the best RPG ever made. sure, it doesnt give you the free roaming enviroment that fallout gives, or the extensive character development that Baulders gate emmerses you in (note: i have completed both Fallout 1 and 2 and Baulders gate 2 :P plus im half way through NWN) but FF7 has the most gripping and intriguing story in any game i have witnessed, and the materia system is just perfect. Plus getting a golden chocobo the hard way (breeding, not killing the emerald weapon) is the whole most satisfying experience known to man.

in comparison FF6 is just a load of icons bouncing up and down on a screen.

Yeah they exsist, i cant remember what there called but theres Dark Shiva - Dark Bahamut and the like and they are mighty hard :p I think theres around 10 in total.

But i never knew they was only in certain versions of the game, its a bit unfair becausethey add plenty plenty hours more gameplay to the game :/

Final Fantasy VII is the best game I've ever played. :O

ff6 does beat ff7 but not by much. if cloud was less of a bitch maybe then

Yeh Cloud was a bitch (don't start me on Sephiroth) FF7 was too pubescent for my liking (the angst coming out of the tv was almost palpable) Also, good story my ass - Hollyoaks springs to mind. (Not that this matters, being common jpn rpg ingredients. But FF7 really was too much)

(and it really did seem like you were just wondering from one screen to another rather than exploring - which is my biggest gripe with the game. Otherwise it's fantastic :))

Anyways, Secret of Mana owns FF7 from such a massive height \o/ The real debate should be FF6 v SoM :)
