My thoughts: FF7 advent children.

My thoughts about the movie::

I just finished watching it.. and for being a diehard ff7 fan, i must say i liked it.. If you are a fan of FF7.. watch it. if you dont know about ff7.. watch the cg.. ignore everything else.

Before i start i just want to say: this movie is made for ff7 fans only.

The reason i am going to spend 5 minutes on typing this is beacuse i am still playing FF7 sometimes.. and i really have waited for this movie.

The Story

To be perfectly honest; i really dont see the point of making this movie.. it isn't adding anything extraordinary into the whole FF7 universe.. the talking is rather ok.. alot of details ( but only people who played the game would understand what the fuc_k they are talking about )..

the talking builds up the plot, and you just know its going to happen something really awesome and extraordinary.. but it just stops right there..
nothing BIG happens, except for the last fight with ********
.. and that isn't BIG enough.
it's just a fight.

there are no "oh-shit" moments in the plot.. we already know everything they say and talk about in the movie.. i did.

The CG

Alright.. This is a CG action movie.. so you really are going to spend some time watching and staring at all the effects and polygons instead of following the "story"..

The CG i excellent! The Frame Render & the amount of detail is just awesome.
The human design and face features are following the games design almost 100%..
Yes, they all look Gay, but thats Japan for you right there.. Girls in japan like men who look feminine.

but as we all know there is always downsides.. and here comes a few i noticed after the first watch.

lip sync, movments of people, physics.. these are the things that sometimes get wrong or just looks strange..
and by physics, i dont mean when could is flying 100m/ph.. thats just natural in anime/movie.. i mean people running/falling, objects bouncing and stuff like that.

Music

Nobuo uematsu.. what can go wrong..... how about EVERYTHING?.. no just kidding.
Ok.. the soundtrack taken from ff7 is (as we all know) awesome.. they re-made some of the songs.. added some synths and stuff.. these songs are ok and really add to the whole movie.

And then there is Jrock.. and.. well, yeah..

Overall

Alright... As a movie.. see it.. see it twice. The second time you watch just enjoy the CG, ignore everything else.
I really dont like how they ALWAYS have to fuc_king show the "cool face" or the "cool look" in a fight.. with that smile..thats just more gay than most of men can handle..

Another thing is that the movie doesn't
show many places
from the game.. i really wanted to see
wutai and/or golder saucer,
... these dont exist in this movie..

The fights tend to get rather linear and just boring to watch..
After 3 minutes of fighting, you just want to take your hands and shove them in your head to remove your eyes beacuse they hurt so god dam'n much.

And PLEASE!!!! Would you just stop making me cry watching
aeris appear every fuc'king 10 seconds...

I really dont understand why they made this movie.. or maybe i do..
i think square-enix is in need of money.

Hmm. Sounds like a mixed bag.

I haven't d/led it yet and might just wait 'till it comes to dvd. I'm catching up in One Piece and my bandwith is precious :)

Anybody wanna hit me up with an english sub if they come across one. :\

its DVD only?!?!?! omg!!! booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:frown:

i wanted to see it on the big screen...liek WTF MATE? :|

Dr. Freeman, you couldn't have seriously expected this movie to go to the box office after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, could you? Sure the hordes of FF7 fans would flock to it, but the general movie-going public probably wouldn't even give it a look. It'd be a flop.

I just got done watching it too...pretty ballsy. The story seemed just like a setup to watch some really long, really cool fights with the FF7 characters. Every one of those fights was like 20 minutes long, too...at least it seemed like it. Not saying that in a negative way, because the fights were great to watch (albeit some very Matrix-esque moments).

No, the reason they made it is because Final Fantasy 7 fans simply would not shut up about wanting a sequel, or a remake (FF7 PS3 tech demo rumors, anyone?), or wanting to see what happened at the end of FF7...this was just something nice for people who wanted to see their favorite characters fighting one more time. Least, that's what I think. Regardless, it was a good movie.

I got done watching it, the mysterious story was still intact and will take some rewatching and thinking over to get it all. Fights were f'ing awesome. I think it was very good, and I had some great memories watching it. :]

hmm...any idea when it will be in stores? release dates?
i was really excited about seeing this on the big screen and this happens :|
oh well..i want the DVD.

You're not looking hard enough.

It was my understanding that this was getting a theatrical release. Anyone correct me?

Nope. You'll never see another Final Fantasy movie in theatres across North America again, the last time they did that they lost 100 million bucks.

the movie:
edit

the english subs: for XviD-BiEN version.
edit

times up i guess

For the movie, go to the place that spys on torrents and for the sub, I might upload it in a bit, it's only 40kb.

I can't get the subtitles to work :( I got the bien file/subtitles..but don't know how to work it.

PS I'm still gonna buy it. If it's as good as stated, tehre's no way I'm NOT buying it.

Get bsplayer and put the subs and vid in the same folder. Just open with bsplayer and subs are already on.

I got Media Player Classic. I figured it out...omfg that movie kicked so much fuggin ass.

I had goosebumps through 90% of that movie. Loved out
Reno and Rude kept up the comedic act throughout. Made me laugh quite alot.

The ending will probably bring a tear to my eye for a LONG time. They did a great job with the looks on everybody. The characterization was amazing. The looks and all. Kudos to them. A movie I will DEFINATELY buy.

It is subbed, it's ~730MB and EXCELLENT quality. It is also an EXCELLENT movie. A must watch for FFVII fans. I've watched it 3 times and it's still excellent.

I just watched it. One word...
Awesome

I'll be buying the DVD when it comes to the USA.
I just wish Red XIII talked more, he was my favortie FFVII Character

Yes hes cool, but i think this movie really made Vincent Valentine look like one of the coolest characters ever..

As a die-hard FFVII fan scince the age of nine, I can't wait to see this film.

But please refrain from posting any media player screens, links, information regarding download sites, or anything else that could infinge HL2.net.

I loved this movie, very well made, fight secuences were just awesome, and the story was very good too.

Yuna's fight in the church was awesome, I really laughed when the cell phone started ringing with the FFVII "level up" music, that was a nice touch for the FFVII conocieurs... :E

You made 2 wrongs there. Her name is Tifa not Yuna and that music is the Victory fanfare after you win a battle in the game..

You my friend are right! I stand corrected, sorry :E

I'll say one thing about this film: Don't expect anything big. Don't expect anything to change your view of Final Fantasy VII. If you do, you'll be disappointed. Instead, sit back, enjoy the CGI, enjoy seeing the characters again, and enjoy the numerous references to FFVII. This is a tribute.

Oh, and above all, buy the goddamn DVD when it's out. You effectively just stole £20 from Square Enix, so for God's sake, make sure you give it back ;)

Who knows... maybe one day we'll see a VII remake, and get to see it at it's best.

One more thing... this film reminded me, more than anything, that all good things lie behind you, not infront of you.

Don't worry after watching some of the movie ill deffinatly buy it, but how do i put in the .sfv subtitle files so i can actually know what the hell they are saying?

.sfv isnt the subtitles.
.srt are the english subtitles (if you downloaded them)
Make sure you have the file in the same folder as the video.

Well that's just a bit pessimistic isn't it?

I'd like to think that life gets better from day 1 :p

I never expected the movie to continue the story of FF7 and be groundbreaking. I actually expected less that what I got.
