You gotta download the subtitles separately.

Oh, wait I think mine came with subtitles then... could you help me on how I can get them to work?

Well that's just a bit pessimistic isn't it?

Not if you believe that what is infront of you is impossible to see... :p

I haven't watched the last 20 mins or so, but as a standalone movie it's absolute ****. Even to FF fans it isn't that great, and if you haven't played FFVII to the end you will be slightly clueless.

Visually it can look really amazing sometimes, but story and pacing-wise it's pretty lame.

You better listen hard to Suicide42 before you watch this.

I wouldn't be so harsh, since I wasn't expecting very much after the debacle that was The Spirits Within and it definitely exceeded what little expectations I had.

I WOULD agree however that the pacing is fairly pants, and the story's not too much better. The final reel begins about halfway through the movie, ffs, or at least it feels that way.

Like someone else said it works best as a tribute, and people should approach it that was as opposed to a standalone movie. If you loved FF7 there's no reason you wont enjoy it, and even feel a bit teary at seeing bits of nostalgia rendered up there in CG.

I just re-read what I typed and it did come off quite harsher than it meant to. You're right about the final reel so to speek coming half-way through. The whole thing just feels too "fast", but doesn't really go anywhere.

I agree, it does feel like it goes so fast, I've only skimmed and came along to watch some parts whole. Like, by the middle, they're already in the city, and that's it... the end, all fighting from there on.

Watching it again, Advent Children is actually suprisingly good, provided you can stand the pointlessly bullet quick introduction and lighting fast flashbacks. It's just that when you're watching it for the first time, you're constantly comparing it to Final Fanstasy VII in terms of scale... which is ridiculous because they'd never be able to fit anything truly epic into an hour and a half. When you watch it a second time, you can just view it for what it is, which is a damn cool Anime film.

Probably my favorite fight scene, apart from the finale, is when Cloud is taking on both of the brothers in the forgotten city. When the characters jump into the air and Cloud is defending himself with duel swords... the music goes into sharp JABS, matching his blade strokes, it just looks so damn awesome.

It takes more than one watch to really get whats going on and all that jazz, if I could find my 2nd FF7 disc I would play though that again. :[

I've bought FF7 about..4 times now. I got like 1 disk 1's, 3 2's and all of the rest. *there are 4 disks isn't there?* Anyway yeah.

Great tribute, great figh scense...great audio!

And I liked FF:TSW :( I thought it was a great movie.

I'm loving it. Although Bahumut looks really, really fake.

Anyone seen the Madhouse anime short (30 mins), Last Order? Yup that got leaked too. It's quite good - a retelling of the Nibelheim incident and Zak / Cloud's apprehension and escape. Though it does take some liberties with how Sephiroth is defeated in the Mako reactor
In the game, Cloud kind of swivels Sephy over the lifestream which admitadly looked kind of dumb... here, Sephiroth seems to jump in voluntarily

Meh, I'll just wait til my friend gets the DVD. It should be out here fairly soon, right?

November I think?

Now note that I have never played FF7 and so I am the perfect person to review this film with no preconceptions. :p

It was too fast, and not enough happened. Suicide has briefed me on the full story of FF7 so I understood what was going on, but still nothing really seemed to happen. Stardog said it best:

The whole thing just feels too "fast", but doesn't really go anywhere.

The fight scenes were cool but alltogether too 'videogamish' - not that they were unrealistic, just that they didn't seem to have any punch to them. Sometimes they felt too plastic. It was an alright film, but it didn't really do much (although the two corporate spook characters and the fight=win ringtone gave me a laugh).

Please stop with the FF7 thing...I hate when people drag a series on so long it makes it bleed. People don't know when to stop.
