first age of conan gets a 6 month delay now ET wont be released this year ..wtf they've been working on it before completing Enemy territory almost 4 years ago ..you'd think they were making a MMO or something

In announcing "record" Third Quarter Fiscal Year 2007 Preliminary Results, Activision, Inc. also reveals a delay to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, saying Splash Damage's eagerly anticipated multiplayer shooter is now expected in Fiscal 2008. Word is: "The company believes that its fourth quarter results will be significantly impacted by higher legal expenses relating primarily to its internal review of historical stock option practices, including expenses relating to the previously announced informal SEC inquiry and derivative litigation, and its decision to move the release of Enemy Territory(TM): QUAKE Wars into fiscal year 2008."

still not official because:

Activision's fiscal 2008 runs from April 2007 through March 2008, so it is still possible for the game to make its most recent announced release window while still suffering this delay as far as the accountants are concerned.

Activision's 2008 fiscal year starts on April 1 2007, so yes, 2008 Q1 is April - June 2007

Don't forget, only a small group of people are making this, by no means a huge game producer, more like a full time mod' team. It will be SO worth it though!

Yes, you are lucky that you don't care about the DS, PS2, or adventure games for the PC. Man, its going to be a bulimic year for my wallet, the poor thing. :x

game companies must rate up with estate agents in the highest amount of bullshit per word ever.

If a game comes out on time it's rushed, if not it's years behind in graphics.

Can't think of a single game that set out and did what it wanted to do in the timeframe.

By the time ET:QW hits the shelves we'll have another BF release, plus two booster packs for it. :> Hopefully not.

However when I recently was telling my friend about QW (he didn't keep track of it) I wanted to give him some good youtube links, but realised neither of the gameplay videos looks impressive... It looks kinda arcadeish (more than BF) and the visuals, big fonts, look as if it was developed for a console. It reminds me of BF: Modern Combat, which is not neccessarily good. The vehicle physics also seemed crap on one of the videos I saw, but hopefully they will be improved, or I got a false impression.

I was looking forward to it (and I guess I still am), but noticed it's not how I pictured it until recently. It doesn't look like a Battlefield replacement, as many people put it. Maps are optimised and balanced for 16-24 players and while the servers can handle more, it is still meant to be played in a group of fewer people, so the general concept is not BF-like. It might be a really good game, but I don't think it will be a BF alternative.

Of all the businesses I know, game companies can still be the ones who get away with delays and not delivering. It is irresponsible, and besides very few exceptions (Zelda and Zelda), quality is rarely a justification.
