I can't decide :'( , both getting stellar reviews and are totally my types of game.

If you want to decide between them, take out the *other game* option.

Final Fantasy games have always been my sort of game.

NWN2, Final Fantasy blows after FFVIII.

As much as I love FFXII, NWN 2 is made by the same guy's who made KOTOR II, so I'm going for NWN 2

I'd say NWN2, but I'm biased because I don't really find any joy in JRPGs these days.:)

If NWN2 is anything like NWN it'll be good in multiplayer and average in single. I'm hoping they nail single player this time, but have doubts. FF for a decent story driven adventure :)

Well Warbie, keep in mind NWN2 is being done by a new team, not the same guys that did NWN1, it seems they're focusing more on doing a good SP campaign this time around according to previews etc, so it seems like it's likely that we'll get a good SP in it :D

We'll see. I don't rate Obsidian as highly as Bioware, who imo are the king of single player western style rpgs. It could turn out well, especially if they are focussing on single player. NWN, the engine, the way it's put together, has always been focussed on online play, though. NWN2 looks the same.

I haven't enjoyed a final fantasy since, well...final fantasy. Personally I would get NWN2, but if you enjoy final fantasy games I would get that now. That way if/when you get NWN2 there will be lots of mods and most of the bugs will be gone, and the single player game will still be there.

Did you play Vagrant Story on the PS1? if yes, did you like it?, FFXII was almost totally made by the same guy, and you can really tell when it comes to character design and plot twist is very "Vagrant Story-ish"... also if you want another recommendation play Okami on PS2, one of the best game of the year, no next-gen game compares to it yet, beautiful graphics, beautiful story, beautiful and original gameplay and 50+ hours of gameplay, play it and laugh at other people waiting for FPS with guys on steroids...

Tough choice, personally I'm 'getting' both but if it were down to one, I'd give FFXII the thumbs up. I just haven't read anything about NWN2 so I'm a bit clueless about the changes / improvements. I remember playing the original a bit and losing interest quickly, but since this is Obsidian (110% agree with Warbie, Bioware = king of Singleplayer RPGs), I'll look forward to it.

^ edit: Awesome, I didn't know the guy behind Vagrant is behind this. I remember playing the game halfway when I was a kid and then stopped for some reason, I wish I had the chance to finish it. Now it makes sense, the reviews mentioned the game's plot were more 'Adult' than previous FF, hehe I'm definately looking forward to FFXII a lot more now.

And I really want to play Okami, I saw it available but only in Japanese ... hoping I can find a English-language version somewhere. Then there's Bully... and Disgaea 2, etc etc. Ack, why oh why must mid-terms come the moment I want to play these games... :(

Yeah, there is no reason whatsoever that I can think of for not getting both, esp. if you are an RPG fan. They both look incredible and both fill different voids in the RPG gamer in all of us. Very different games and both should be very enjoyable. Some of my 'next-gen' money will be going in their direction in the next couple of weeks since the 360 price cut that I am waiting for will likely not be until next year....

I vote XII. Mainly because I really freaking want it.

Seeing as there is no option for "Both" i'm gonna have to go with NwN2, as much as i love FF Games, i have a lot of mates who are getting NwN2, so we're gonna have a laugh online with it.

I am a couple minutes from going to work and picking up my paycheck at zee mall. I will then proceed to the EBGames and check if those losers have Final Fantasy XII. If they do, I WILL BUY! Then, I will proceed to deposit me check at BofA. HEHEJEJEJEKEKEKE.

My brother bought both. His ebgames bill for that order is like 145 dollars.

damn it! PS2 games are still like $50!? Sheesh! They're lucky I love the FF series! GRR!

Yeah, I found out the collectors edition has a better box and bonus DVD disc. I got the regular edition from Circuit City. For how much? Yep, $39.95! The guy said it's only for one week only.

I was in the NWN2 multiplayer beta test (which is still going on for some reason), and the gameplay was hella slooooow. like.. the characters just stand there for 5 seconds... swing their weapon reeallly awkwardly... then wait another 5 seconds... repeat...
BORING. The game is very static, like a real board game. But if you like those kinda things, then...

Do you need to know anything about the FF universe to get into FFXII? I've not really played the others (other than 7, but i didn't finish it), but I'm interested in the games.

heretic, FFIX is better than VIII and VII combined.

Anybody who thinks 9 is...NUTS!

I'm forcing myself to play 9 right now, trying to get through it..but damn..why does everybody look like they are 12? And what's up with an EMO blackmage? Shit, I'd develope a god complex before depression.

No. The only sequels to a FF game is Dirge of Ceberus*sp* and FFX-2. Every other Final Fantasy is completly different from the next.
