I almost exclusively used filefront and all of the game branches like stalker.filefront.com and stuff like that. D:

I think that would be a horrible April Fools joke to play. I've tried Gamershell once before but I got crap speeds. I guess there are always torrents for demos and mods.
 
I always have trouble finding sites with good D/L speeds. I can download things at around 3.0mb/s but I never find a source that is that fast. Occasionally I will get torrents that reach that, but not very often. It sucks having this much bandwidth and never being able to take advantage of it.

Filefront wasn't very consistent for me. Sometimes I would get great speeds and other times it would only be 200-300kb/s
 
Just goes to show you should always back up your files.This will only reach mainstream notice when G-mail shuts down with a 5 day warning and people get pissed that they lose everything because they were on vacation.

I use Planetphillip as my mod source and that guy just said he has a backup of everything so he'll be moving on. I prefer getting mods from there anyway, so close call!

Or you could pay for services you actually need and not have that problem :upstare:.
 
Oh this is sad. FileFront was my favorite site whenever I needed to download demos and mods and stuff. :(
Epic loss.
 
Sad, I remember using Filefront to download a bunch of mods back in the day.

Now I no longer have time to play games anymore ;(

Rapidshare and mediafire are up to 100mb and megaupload does 250.

I know you can get 10GB with Mediafire Pro.
 
I remember waiting in that horrible fileplanet queue to get an update for CS.

Not great choices, really. I think I'll stick with my Skydrive and hope that Microsft increases the 50MB file limit soon.
 
Maybe their april fools joke will be that they will remain open for one more day, but then, unbeknown to everyone else, all their downloads are really just the Conficker virus!

Damn, Filefront was also my favorite download site. Guess I'll have to resort to Gamer's Hell or something(anything but Fileplanet).
 
You guys should look into FileShack.

You can't upload stuff yourself, but it's good if you want to download stuff.
 
****ing rediculous. Now where am I going to get a reliable site with mods, patches, etc. that are dedicated to everything Half-Life 2 and BF2? (Bf2files.com and HL2files).

Damn shame. I always found Filefront was good for the more obscure stuff.
 
They removed the files from the file browser but as of now the files and their description pages are still accessible through the search function.

FileFront has been acquired by the original founders of the site and will NOT be suspended as previously announced. This is NOT an April Fool's Joke.

After learning about Ziff Davis Media's plan to shut down FileFront at the end of March, the original founders of FileFront made the decision to buy it back from Ziff Davis Media.
