What was the better classic? And why? Also, post your feelings about each.

Ppl are voting but not saying their reasons! :(

FF8 didn't keep me hooked too long, too similar to FF7... cept hard :p

Triple Triad was damn fun tho... but FF7 is just sooooo teh pwn. And I HATED 8's magic system, and it was the first to leave from the anime style, which suited it. Seven wins.

i voted for FF7.

i played games (for PC cause im not a fan of consoles in general) FF7 ALOT, cleared it once and had fun playing it afterwards to mess around etc. it was a classic FF series game (which im a fan of) and basically even now when i look back on it, blocky graphics and all, i still think it is/was the best FF game ever.. thats my personal opinion.

as for FF8, i don't own it, never have, never will.. i did play it tho.
its my personal opinion that FF games after #7 that is, got too complicated and stuff.. i mean the game play in FF7 was fine, and had they continued with that line of game play in FF8, then i might consider comparing it to FF7.. but i found it (the game play setup..etc) to be dumb and really did not like the story as much as other FF games.

in my mind, comparing FF8 to FF7 should not even happen.. FF7 blows it outta the water, storyline wise, game play wise, character wise... the only thing that FF8 probably has an edge on FF7 is in graphics and sound tech.. simply cause its newer.. but like i said, i can live with the blocky grahics because FF7 was simply a classic in all other aspects of an FF series game.

8 has a pretty good storyline and some really interesting points, you should give it a try freeman.

FF7 owned FF8 in my opinion, FF7 had a really cool storyline an was jus more fun in general. I'm not saying ff8 was bad, i jus didnt like it as much.
Limit breaks are key.
Final Fantasy Tactics was a very good game as well, its a classic too!
And i liked FFX as well, not as fun as FF7 tho, but the graphics and the ability to control the summons was sweet. I also liked the timeframe FF7 was set in. The characters were cool too.

yes, i agree, FF7 was a much better game story line/battle/everything wise than FF8, its a shame they sent the remakes to the shitter

Also what's up with the limit break system in FF8? It was both hard to access and unfair, doing five limit breaks in a row only to have your main character die.... WTF?

FFX is the worst final fantasy to date

FFX is my fav. FF, though ive never really played the other FFs :D And ill def. buy FFX 2.

FF7

-Best Bad Guy
-Best Good Guy
-Best Characters All Around
-Best Magic System
-Sweet Story
-The Leveling Is Actually Tough (In 8 All It Took Was 1000 EXP To Level)

I have to say something about FFX, it sucked balls. FFX was just plain terrible, had a pussy main character I never used. Pussy Level/Magic System, there was just pussy everywhere!
I believe the only reason they are making FFX2 is cuz all these noob FF fans, the only one they have played is FFX and they loved the pussy characters and everything. Try playing FF3 that one also owned, almost all the older ones along with 7 owned. After that the series kinda went down hill. Atleast I can look Forward to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

The Setting: A futuristic world under the rule of a large organization (Shin-Ra/The Empire.) Theres high end towns, theres low end slums, both caused by the empires.

Materia = Magecite (pretty much the same thing)

Sehpiroth - Part of a large communistic organization who eventually turns on them after gaining great power (after finding out he is an Ancient)

Kefka - Weird clown guy part of a large communistic organization who eventually turns on them after gaining great pwoer (through the statues/magecite)

The good guys: From either game they are from a wide array of places, some have known each oter (the main few) some others they picked up along the way.

but yeah, if you even just compare some of the little things they all match up.

EDIT - I like the simplitic level up system in FF7, in FF8 that circle chart thing pissed me off

I love them both, they were each different but I think they were both quality games. I might have enjoyed VII a bit more, but VIII deserves more recognition than it gets, most of the time.

I like the graphics and the world of FF7, but FF8 is quite incredible too !
