Yer damn skippy Kerry. The police are dead set against assault weapons.

No, the police executives are against them. I and most other rank and file coppers I know are against the "assault weapon" ban, and are glad it's gone. Police chiefs and sheriffs, for political reasons, say that they are for the ban, but they don't speak for all the officers in their agencies. Furthermore, did anyone notice that Kerry used the example of some police chief he was hunting with A YEAR AND A HALF AGO (when the ban was still in effect) telling him about doing a drug raid on a house where a guy had an AK-47? The ban was still in effect a year and a half ago, yet he trumpets the fact that the police found a banned gun on a drug raid WHILE THE BAN WAS IN EFFECT? I fail to see how that supported his case. THe ban apparently was working real well.

Fair enough hapless. I was under the impression that regular cops felt the same way. Seems I was wrong.
