Patches can get pretty big.

But I dont know if they patch 360 games, because I dont even have a 360. I dont even know why im in this thread, I just read the last four posts and decided to say something. Goodbye.

360!

*Edit* For those wondering about the RROD, do NOT worry about that. The latest models have improved so much that it's barely even an issue anymore. Yes, it still happens, but hell even PS3's and Wii's break down.

It's no longer 30% or some crazy batshit number that's been thrown around, that's for sure.
You are definetly correct on the numbers. It isn't 30% and the failure rate has dropped a lot. But as of earlier this year it was still 16%. Compared to <3% for other consoles...
Still an issue, although not as huge.

This says the new boxes may be 10% failure rate. Marked as a rumor.

Making my purchase tomorrow, sounds like I'm getting a 360 pro + GTA4 bundle. Thanks for input dudes.

I got an Elite bundle with Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza 2 for $449, then grabbed a copy of CoD4 GOTY. Needless to say I'm a happy person now. :)

Only thing I was sad about is no free month of live. :( My debit card hates me today. haha

You shouldn't need to enter any credit/debit card details to get your free month of Live, just create an account and chuck in your address and stuff... unless they've changed it for some reason.

I have both, well, a PC and a PS3, so close enough. Pretty much all good 360 games are also on or will eventually be ported to the PC or PS3, so there's little reason to get a 360. Though if I had enough money that I could just throw around, and they were cheap enough, I'd get a 360 elite and the couple of good games that I can't get on the PC or PS3.

360 > PS3.

End of arguement.

PS3

* HTPC replacement
* Folding@Home
* Runs linux

What you use you're consoles for games? haha funny.

Oh well, I got a year of it now. lol

I can't wait till BF:BC comes out, we'll have to have a nice hl2.net match. :thumbs:

That deal is going on Wal-Mart's online store. Is that how you got yours? I nabbed an elite after i sold my premium for $300 last night. I'm too impatient to wait for shipping. That is a real good deal though.

im a very happy camper now that my console collection is complete... now time to focus on my new pc setup

Heh, my brother talked me into getting a slightly used second hand X360. So it arrives, supposed to be complete Premium, but there's no headset or the net cable. I plug it, switch it on - famous RROD ("but it worked fine before we sent it to you"). Occasionally it works for a few seconds and then freezes with a static noise from the TV. Planning to demand a refund (of course they're suggesting sending to Microsoft for a replacement, but I think I've every right to demand my money back for something that didn't work straight out the box).

Pleasant first experience with an X360. My PS3-owning friend will be laughing at me for the whole week.

I got mine at Best Buy.

Froze mine yesterday too, trying to log into Live, bring open the main Xbox menu and loading cod4. Was waiting for the BSOD. :laugh: Too bad there wasn't one :(

Get both, I'm about to get a PS3 to go with my 360 so I don't miss out on any titles I want to play

But if I had to pick, 360. Just found a SHIT LOAD more games I was willing to actually buy over rent, while the PS3 only has 3 games I actually plan to buy.

what is with all the ps3 love all of a sudden? it surely cant ALL be for mgs?

nothings really changed from a year ago, xbox still has the best games and by far the best multiplayer. the ps3 has alot of potential but still has poor online and poor exclusives, im sure by this time next year it will be a serious contender. especially when its reduced in price and theyve sorted the online.

but who wouldve thought a year ago that the wii would turn out to be the barely played peice of shit thats gathering dust next to my TV. nintendo had better wise up in the next generation or the wii will be nintendos beautiful swansong. lost winds is cool though, if a bit too short.

and im with pitz 100% on the dreamcast. still my most played console of my 15+ console collection.

i have gta 4, gears, and halo 3. My copy of gears was used so im planning to beat it right off the bat and get the full refund.

im loving every second i spend with my 360:thumbs:

**** 360's ... bricking pieces of shit.
<3 PS3.

Perhaps party/social gaming isn't your thing?

Out of the 3 consoles the Wii is the only one that gets switched on when friends come round. Boom Blox plus a group of mates has been the most fun gaming this gen, and Wii Bowling, Fit and Mario Kart always result in fierce competition and smiling faces. The best thing is how everyone loves these games, regardless of age and sex, and just how much fun it is playing games with non gamers. There are also good quality, more traditonal games for the Wii (Mario Galaxy, Lost Winds, Metroid, No More Heroes, Brawl), but if you're not party gaming, you've missed the point entirely.

oh it was for the first coupla times, then it was like 'shall we play some wii? nah just whack the snes on'

mariokart wii/wii sports/brawl

vs

nba jam/fifa IS/bomberman/original mariokart/super streetfighter (the list goes on)

im not bashing the wii for no reason, ive got one, ive got about 10 games for it (mario galaxy is really good, lost winds is very very good for the 3 hours it lasts etc) but the whole console stinks of gamecube 2, except gamecube games are much better (yes ive got one of those too with about 20 games.)

i havnt got a ps3 but the xbox has had about 90% of my playtime, playing with friends or otherwise. the wii is a gimmick that gets old real quick, mainly because they FORCE the wiimote on you when ive played about 2 games that really make good use of it.

...Boom Blox plus a group of mates has been the most fun gaming this gen...

QFT!!! I absolutely love Boom Blox. I don't have a Wii, but when my friend brings it over all of my other friends and some of their wives practically beg to come over to play.

I have a PS3, which I love BTW, but it doesn't even get turned on if there are friends over. My not-so-gaming friends were bored with GTA in minutes.

Thing is, my non gaming mates wouldn't consider playing these games for a split second. Like Fishlore said, the difference with the Wii is your gf/wife/sister and her mates will want to play, and they'll enjoy it as much as you (especially Boom Blox - no other game could make ten thirtysomething non gamers fight for the wiimotes :)).

I find the Wii is like the DS in that the more ppl you play with the more fun it is. Take Brain Training - on your own it's fun for a few days. Get your misses to play too and it'll be fun for a week. Get your entire familly and everyone in the office to play, and it's fun for months/years. It's like the World Cup, it becomes infectious, and it's the same with Wii Sports/Fit/Play/Boom Blox etc. Now everyone I socialise with has a Wii or easy access to one (even my mother-in-law!). They all have their own Miis, high scores, grudges/alliances, and the majority of them are non gamers (or at least they were before the Wii). Wii Bowling is now even more fun than it was at release - long after the novelty should have worn off - simply because it has a bit of a history now and because it's something we all do - like football in the park and meeting for drinks.

Galaxy, Lost Winds, Mario Kart, Brawl, Metroid, Zelda - they're just gravy :)

why would i want to play games with non gamers, they'd only be shit.

Because with a little practise at Boom Blox etc they'll be as good as you. The fun is in playing with more and different types of ppl
