i believe if you goto
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your@emailadd
y.com\counter-strike\cstrike\

and make a dir called models and put repalcement models in there they will get used in the game...or at least thats how i got the HD pack into HL, well i used the "\half-life\valve\" dir instead of cs, but same deal.

try it, let me know how it works :)
 
I would still wait a few days.

Maybe until the next Steam patch just to be sure.

no it doesn't work, with the models folder with customised models inside, i can't join any server and i can't even create my own server, once i remove the models folder, i could join and create serve. However, one of the server made me download some sound files to a sound folder which is located in Steam\SteamApps\your@emailadd
y.com\counter-strike\cstrike\.

but Thx anyway. i'm happy enough seeing that my steam is working properly now
 
i think the reason HD pack works for hl when u put it in that direction, it's because hl is single play only.
 
Yeah, i finally got STEAM working, i can join servers and create and all that, like someone said, STEAM is great, when its working.
 
I'm sure i read somewhere ages ago that condition zero wouldnt allow the changing of models to try and stop some form of cheating. Perhaps you cant change them because of that....

Lol, I decided to install it anyway, then it couldn't recognize my beta ID so I made a new one, then it said I wasn't connected to the internet and proceeded anyway (wtf) now its moving shit and all of them say ... failed, This will be interesting.

Your beta id had expired. Everyone has to sign up again.

Putting skins in steamapps/email/counter-strike/cstrike/models does work!
 
how many models did u put inside? i put my entire models folder from the old cs to steam but i can't join nor create any server. are u able to join server? well i will try again later, i'm tired now. btw, is it true that without converting the mods, i won't be able to join servers? i simply put the mod folders in steamapps/email/half-life/, i can create server, but i can't join any server and it says that the game is not available.
 
I tried steam for the first time and it worked perfectly :)
 
I've only reskinned the USP so far, but I'm planning on doing other weapons as well.. so.. I only have two replacement models at the moment.
 
How the hell do you see the HL-2 movies? It doesnt show up in the games tab...
 
everytime I try to join a server ask me to enter a pssword.
it says games sources verivication then
server discountected time out:

and now it tryingto open steam it says error you connection is down or our server is. check your connection. dam
 
If your steam isn't working for hl or cs just set the game options to keep the game up to date and then leave it doing nothing for about 12 hours if the bandwidth is all gone. Then when it hasn't tried to update for a long time run cs or hl etc from the games window in steam and it should complete the install and work.

I had an absolute nightmare with it for the first 24 hours due to all the bandwidth probs but since then I've had it working perfectly and it's a superb piece of software.

The BIG question no is wether or not Valve can secure some extra bandwidth in time for the hl2 release. Maybe allow preorders via steam in the next week or so to pre-cahce the game and activate it on release day to keep the bandwidth usage down.
 
Yeah, Mojo|Night, pre-caching is one of the major strengths of Steam, as we saw with the HL2 movies. Whether they do it for the HL2 release is unknown at this time, but I'm sure they will be using it for future patches.
 
CS finally installed, however it bound movement to the mouse, and NOTHING would fix it. Antialiasing also severely corrupted the text in the menu... It also downloaded these "HEADSHOT" RAMPAGE etc. UT sounds and won't stop using them, I deleted it, maybe a re-download will help ;)
