THQ's CEO and president sent to all employees said:
To All THQ Employees:
We now have the answers we've been seeking through our financial restructuring and
Chapter 11 case. While much will be written, here are the facts of the bids and auction
that occurred t:
  • Yesterday morning, we received a competing bid for the operating business,
along with Clearlake's offer, and numerous offers for separate assets.
  • During an auction process that lasted over 22 hours, the final conclusion was
that the separate-asset bids would net more than a single buyer for the majority
    of the company.
  • Shortly, we will, present the results to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, which must
    concur with our assessment.
  • The proposed sales of multiple assets is as follows :
  • Sega agreed to purchase Relic
  • Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro
  • Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront
  • Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve and
  • Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal and South Park
We expect these sales to close this week.

Volition sold to Koch Media aka Deep Silver:
And the unquestionable future of my most anticipated THQ product. :(

Many other IPs are still being auctioned. The future of Vigil, developers of the "Darksiders" franchise, is uncertain at this point, as no buyers have expressed interest. Rest assured, Sega will do justice to RTS franchise Company of Heroes - just as they've been great towards the Total War developers. Hoping this means a brighter and more diversified future for Relic.

What happened to Turtle Rock's new game? THQ was supposed to publish it.

Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve
That was Turtle Rock's new thing, wasn't it? Maybe google is lying to me.

Good to see they all went to halfway respectable studios instead of being swallowed up by EA or something. Except maybe Crytek but **** Homefront anyway.

I hope they can get their own IP back. They've been working on it for years.

Koch seems to have some random game publishings...and a really simple website.

Maybe SEGA will continue the Homeworld franchise.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

:(

Don't rule it out. They're actually one of those publishers that's made some high risk decisions.

edit: There's a high chance that Activision owns that property after the Sierra acquisition. I'll have to continue researching.

edit 2: Relic re-acquired the IP in 2007, sweet

Never heard of Koch Media in my life, but if they **** up Last Light I'll kill someone. Also Volition needs to make a new IP or f*ck off. Saints Row 3 was shit and they killed Red Faction.

I find it kind of amusing that Sega is now one of the biggest strategy games companies. Company of Heroes, Total War and licences for both halves of the Warhammer franchise.

They've really established themselves as a solid publisher too. The Total War franchise is still coming along nicely. I think this will be a good thing.

I'm a big Saints Row fan, hopefully Koch doesn't **** it up.

If you people had heard of them, you would know them as Deep Silver. Fartbutts.
Cool, they published Iron Front. Unfortunately, the game failed, but it was a good game regardless and im glad they helped the developer make it.

Sega getting Relic is also excellent news.

Retro Studios (Metroid Prime, Donkey Kong Country Returns) has bought Vigil (Darksiders) as well as a Bioware Austin and Junction Point (Epic Mickey).

Edit: Sorry they just hired people from those studios. They don't have the rights to anything.
