Hey guys, my graphics card isn't dead yet, but I am getting artifacts (red and white) and it's very annoying. I will be getting a nice check soon but I'd like to keep the price below $200 if possible.

Now, when I bought my 9800 Pro a few years ago, I was all "up in it." I knew what was the best card and I did a lot of research. Now that I have so much school work to do, it's hard to keep up.

I don't really know if nVidia is as horrible as it was when ATI was coming out with their 9800 series, but I've only ever used ATI chipsets.

Oh, and I can support AGP 4x/8x cards only, no PCIx. I need something new, but affordable, and something which can give me a boost in performance from my current card.

Any help?

6600GT and X700 pro are a little faster than the 9800Pro. They retail for 250$ and 200$ so you should find them online for less.

$182

Many people seem to be able to unlock the extra pipelines or OC. If you are into that.

If not I suggest you spend a bit more for a 6800gt or x800xl as they will last you a lot longer.

Not bad, the most I got was 5913 in 3dMark03. That's almost double if unlocked.

The 6800GT is only PCI-express it looks like from NewEgg. I don't have PCI express.

I think I will wait until I finish a site I am working on, and get a very nice paycheck, and then just buy a X850XT.

I've got a BFG 6600GT OC for about £120, which is probably just under $200 over there. Like evryones saying, go online but stick to a well known brand

6600gt and x700pro arent worth it go with a 6800gt or x800xt

They are coming down in price and are good cards, but they are still alittle over his budget..

6800 GS wins (the entire rest of the 6800 line is going away and only the 6800 GS will remain) but it is PCI-E only.

The x850xt would be good but a 7800gt is your best bet for around that price range but again it's PCI-E so I think you will be happy with the x850xt (or save for a new system!).

My SATA RAID bios died... I think I will just wait to upgrade my CPU, video and mobo. Jeez... my luck.
