So why was the entire planet under some sort of autocratic rule? Were headcrabs developed in a lab as a biological weapon? Are the combine forces cyborgs or something? I don't get it, but the HL universe is interesting.

Hmm... yeah all you said are right... anyway, combines arent cyborgs. they are human fused with combine tech. except the CP's.

well, if you ment the CP's... I think it means that they are now a combine. well, if you're talking about the Soldiers and Elites... the combine tech made them incompatible to earths atmosphere(from wat i've heard).

Yeah, I was talking about the CPs. The Overwatch are modified, so they need a gas mask, but if the CPs are simply humans in Combine uniform, then what's the gas mask for? Surely it's not just a part of the uniform.
