I am making a wood pile thats on fire here. Ok so I need to know how to make some good looking smoke comming from it, and also I would like some embers to be comming off of it. Any advice would be great, thanks.

The env_fire entity has the option of smoke in it's FLAGs. However, to get the blowing embers...I'm stumped.

damn....the smoke frome the fire entity looks like a dog turd, but I found some ok smoke anyway (env_smokestack). But there was once a tutorial on these fourms that had the perfect fire. I tried to find it using the search but no luck. Damn I want those embers.

You are looking for a brush-based entity called env_embers. Just make a brush and cover it with nodraw (or an appropriate ashy texture) and tie it to an env_embers entity.

What exactly does this do and what's its options?

All it does is simulate embers from a fire. The options include simple things like the direction they cast.
