Firefly?

My IT teacher, who is the biggest geek I know (he has a watch that tells the time in binary and has various ties with slogans such as "I don't byte"), reccommended I watch it. Season 1 dvd's on play.com for £30. Is it really that good? Should I get it?

Yes, its great. One of the best TV series' I've seen. It is only 13 episodes, mind, but its 13 episodes of good-ness... or something.

Yeah I love the series. The buy is worth it, since no doubt you'll watch it far more than once. The film I didn't like though. The plot was alright, but the way they went about making sure they'd never be able to make another series after is just stupid.

Also if you want to watch the film after the series, go grab Serenity: Those left behind. It's basically where the series would have gone if they didn't get cancelled. It also tells you a lot about the film and explains a lot of things that confused most fans. I would watch the film for completeness, but some parts of it are just terrible.

Yeah, the movie isn't as good as the series. I also didn't like the whole revelation with the Reavers. I won't go into it, but I liked their origin the way everyone "thought" they originated.

I don't know, I think another good movie/mini-series would be shephard. Find out about his past...That was the thing I hated most. You don't find out about his past at all. We need to know!

Yes, it was an excellent read... It would be an incredible last episode as well.

I thought it was gonna be lame and about 10 mins into the first episode I laughed and thought it was dumb. After that and the next episode it because my favorite show of all time and I was hooked. Ive seen the episodes and commentary countless times. Buy it...or die!

Lack of funding. They weren't getting the viewers or something so Fox pulled the trigger.
Bitch is, Fox didn't show the first episode (The feature-length on your DVD) so people didn't really 'get it' right away, and some didn't keep watching.

Fox still owns the rights and Whedon refuses to work with Fox since they were always shitting over his series. I mean, they aired the first episode last as a "prequel" to the series :|. The pilot episode that would've made sense of the entire show...is ****ing aired last.
