firefox 1.0 freezing <3 seconds after launch.

'suddenly' whenever i try to use firefox [1.0, most recent official release] it starts loading my homepage and looks like it's workign 100%, and than just freezes.

i've uninstalled, deleted all the files and cleaned out my registry and downloaded and installed again, and it still does it : (

any ideas ?

specs:
win xp pro - sp2.
amd xp 3200.
512 mb ddr 400 - geil.
radeon 9800 xt 128mb - gecube.
80 gb sata - western digital.

they put somethign in their SP2 so you can only use their products

try opening firefox in safemode, this will load it without any themes, extensions or plug-ins that may be conflicting with the browser. If it still crashes, reinstall it.

He has reinstalled it, even cleaned out his registry wow. If that doesn't work, I wonder what will.

Cheak your firewalls and antivirus products,I had the same problem and found put it was my firewall.

i ran it in safe mode like duffers suggested and it ran fine so i tried it normally and now it runs perfect .. weird :/

it could have had a corrupt file somewhere that was overwritten when you ran it in safemode, good to hear you got it working again, can't be using IE for long

ever since i installed Firefox ive never looked back. its my default browser. got several themes
and the middle button feature is amazing! i can load up several threads at once at the click ofa button!!!! in different tabs, and they dont pop up until i personally bring them to front.
there are more features i am to discover.
btw, how do you save only a certain 'folder' of your bookmarks?
i wanted to give a mate only my "bit torrent" links but cant do that without sending him my entire list.

It's 1.0.1, just bug fixes and some security stuff.

I had exact same problem and eventually removed reinstalled tooled with firewall and then had same problem. New version installed and it was all set, good luck!
