FIREFOX 3 is OUT!

Adblock Plus is compatible with FF3.

And if you don't like the huge back button, right click on the toolbar > Customize and tick 'Use small icons'. Or if you still want big icons, install a new theme.

Also, there's no divider between google toolbar and the page when you have 0 tabs open... how do you fix that?

Why? I don't want them advertising their pants search engine/bookmarks/etc in my address bar. No "go" button when a page 404's, just the bookmark star. Crappy new font in forms, maybe fixable with a theme.
Same reason, I stopped using the beta's when they put everything into the address bar, hoped they fixed but I guess not. I don't need everything I searched on google showing up in the address bar. :|

I found another thing - middle mouse sometimes decides to not open a tab when opening multiple links...

Who tested this thing?

Anyone know of any decent working 3.0 themes yet?

go? just press enter.

FF3 uses whatever OS theme you are using. Fonts too. EDIT : by the way, you can choose whatever fonts and colors you want in the options too. (under the Content Tab)

In the options, I like it set to "always display the tab bar."

also, click the google icon, and you can switch to whatever search engine you want. You can remove search suggestions, you can even remove them all.

I kind of like full screen mode - press F11. I just wish I could keep it like that to where it doesn't hide it.

i like the new steel gray look for mac, it seems to look the same as FF2 on my PC. Helluva lot faster for both.

Need some skins now. White hurts my eyes too much.

What? What are they advertising? And you can just click in the url bar and hit enter, does the same thing as the useless "go" button.

EDIT: oh didnt see the new page.

Yeah, because taking 2 steps compared to 1 makes sense.

My first dip into FF3 and I'm liking it so far.

edit: Anyone else notice you can now drag and drop any link from the page you are viewing?

Yeah, because taking 2 steps compared to 1 makes sense.

you ? what? bro. All I have to type is nothing.

I go up to the address bar, click the down arrow and select 'halflife2.net/forums' for example. It lists the 12 most visited sites you have made

or, type into the address bar "w" and it lists the top 6 places I've ever visited.

so you just have to type w and then use the mouse to select where you want to go.

If you are going to a new place, you type the address with your keyboard, then hit enter with your keyboard. Honestly, I've never used the go button in the first place.

Finally, there is a GO button, if you type in an address, you will see a green arrow at the right of the address bar.

What? If anything its the other way around. You type your url and hit enter. Its all on the keyboard. No mouse required.
Type - Enter (2).

Click go (1).

See?

Anyway, just hit Refresh. It's just bad interface design, that's all.

If you'd read you'd see I was talking about if you were already on a page. Look at the page you're on right now. No green arrow to go to the site again instead of refreshing.

What? How does it know where you're going if you dont type the url?

You've gone crazy mister.

What's wrong with Ctrl R or F5?

Personally, I like it without the GO. I prefer less buttons on the screen. But maybe they just thought other buttons, like the faves star, would get more use instead?

Going by what you said - what's wrong with Ctrl-D?

Looking at the map, what's with Iran? There were 2x as many FF3 downloads there than in Russia.

You're right. Although I had to look up what Ctrl D does.
It's just odd to find someone who uses the GO button. Not a bad thing.
I don't use the go button when typing url's. I press enter like 99% of other people, but if a page is busy and doesn't load then pressing the go button reloads it. Refresh doesn't always work properly in that instance since the page technically hasn't even loaded/been contacted.

Also, what's up with the downloads list? No Open/Remove buttons... lame (yes, I know you can right-click, but that's shit).

Open is also double click and remove is hitting the DEL key when the listing is highlighted. Not sure why they don't have buttons there.

I'm not sure either. it seems it will just take a bit to familiarize yourself with the new way of doing things

Only gripe I have is that I don't see a way to remove the links, or evidence of your internet history from the URL bar.

I'll have to read the FAQ or manual or something

ah here it is. Thanks Joule.

just hover over the entry you want to remove, then when it highlights, just press delete (windows). I thought I tried that in the RC version.
While the Smart Location bar is quite intelligent, if you enter an incorrect URL—say, to a page that doesn't exist, or a parked domain—Firefox 3 will still remember it and suggest it again later. (Garbage in, garbage out, as they say.) To remove a mistyped URL from your suggestion list forever, key down to the suggestion and type Shift+Delete on the Mac, and just Delete on Windows. This trick also works for any form auto-complete entry, like if you mistype a username into a login form.

Go to the privacy section in the options menu and twiddle around with the choices there, or just hit delete for any location in the AwesomeBar.

Yeah, because taking 2 steps compared to 1 makes sense.

It's one. And it's easier.

Method One:
Move mouse to the URL bar, click bar, type in the address, move the mouse to the go button, click button

Method Two:
Ctrl+L, type, enter.

Voila. Now shut the fuck up.

Another dipshit who didn't read what I said.

Method Three:
Click go button - 1 step. Bring it back.

Wtf. Why the hell would you click the "go button" on its own. You want to go to the same page? Dude, just hit the fucking Refresh button.

It's morons like you who come up with the worst excuses for not upgrading their browsers leaving web developers trying to cope with several different browsers which don't even support any of the same features.

And guess what, they manage it. Here's something for you, just because you're so goddamn fussy. I hope it breaks on you.

Lol, I didn't even realise the go button was gone.

And if the page doesn't load properly, and refreshing actually refreshes the previous page you were on like it did in FF2?

Great. An addon to fix a basic feature. With 936 weekly downloads I can't be the only one. If developers had an ounce of common sense...

Who lets people like you loose on computers?

Well, the browser is working 100% for me. Some refreshing changes.

refreshing actually refreshes the previous page you were on like it did in FF2?

Well it doesn't, so you don't have that to worry about. Ctrl+L, Enter is far easier than moving your mouse to the bar and clicking on the go button, so I don't see why you're complaining about speed.

Great. An addon to fix a basic feature.

No, an addon to put back in a vestigial feature. You do not need it.

With 936 weekly downloads I can't be the only one.

No, you're right, there are hundreds of other morons out there. If you're going to base it off statistics, how about we pull out the number of Internet Explorer 6 users? It's funny how almost 30% of internet users use an old, defunct, incapable, non-compliant browser, roughly the same number of people who are using its far superior successor. If that indicates anything about how numbers don't really work, then I suggest you try and develop for IE6.

If developers had an ounce of common sense...

Maybe you should get an ounce of common sense. You're accusing the entire Mozilla team of being stupid and ignorant to the desires of the people? Or maybe you should be accusing them of just ignoring your irrelevant desire for lack of change. Change is good, particularly when it gets rid of unnecessary features like this, so I'd advise you get used to it. It's not like there's two guys working on this browser who think "so-and-so will be cool". It's not like it's gone through 5 beta stages and 3 release candidates before being released. So I suggest you not bring up the "common sense" of developers who have tried to please you, the customer, by providing you with a completely free web browsing tool.

Who lets people like you loose on computers?

I was actually just about to suggest you stop using the internet altogether. It's people like us who can use computers and spend the majority of the time adjusting software and online tools to accommodate you as the ignorant user. Most of the time in web development is not spent developing something, it's spent fixing something so it works with something that's not standards compliant.

Well it doesn't, so you don't have that to worry about. Ctrl+L, Enter is far easier than moving your mouse to the bar and clicking on the go button, so I don't see why you're complaining about speed.
You browse websites with your keyboard do you?

There's no point in you arguing. When something flies in the face of basic usability (something I'd know about being a graphic designer, using 5+ browsers per day), then there's no way you can be right.

you, the customer
Try a dictionary.

I love change. When the changes move something forward, instead of backward. Pointless changes are useless, especially when it requires addons/mods to fix.
