Firingsquad CS:S benchmarks

;( I wanna see 4.10 results! I didn't buy x800 Pro just for it to kiss Nvidia's ass!

30% performence boost in source? Isn't that what you told me, gabe? Isn't that the reason I bought x800 xt pe?

people shouldn't make the conclusion that ATI has no edge in source engine YET. after all hl2 isn't out yet, and won't be out for a while still. valve and ATI may be working on something that will be out by the time hl2 is released. well have to wait and see.

Im going to quote this. Dont flame. Came from another forum

think the real issue here is you have NVIDIA destroying ATI in OpenGL/Doom3 and performing on par with ATI in DX/HL2.

Some of the maps the 6800gt is passing the x800 xt in FPS.

We cant compare the two benchmarks though because they are using completly different demos and systems.

Firing squad is using a faster CPU then xbit labs is.
The two timedemos are different.

To many variables.

Howevor from my quick glance it still appears nvidia won but Im going to go over it again.

What the hell happend , Nvidia wins in like 80% of the tests , the only thing ATi has going for it is 1600x1200 6aa 16af witch it wins everytime in. I dont think many if any actually play at this resolution anyhow.

There goes $950aud down the drain!?

NVIDIA # 1 :E

Its so tempting to start a flame war. Im trying to supress the urge......... :rolling:

Russiam empire how are you liking that copper heatsink?
Im am thinking about getting one but it would cost nearly $100 with shipping and everything to get to canada.

I want to see if I would be able to overclock any higher then what im at right now.

Im at 450/1170 Right now
I can get ut up to 460/1200 but It crashes after about and hour of gameplay.

I took off the BFG cover plate and placed a vantec spectrum fan card below and my temps dropped from 55 to 48 on idle. (havent measured load)

there are many that play at 1600x1200 including me.

Firingsquad's numbers are always wierd. They have some interesting articles (especially CPU scaling), but I take most of with a grain of salt. Their numbers are always substantially different from other sites. They are wierd like that.

These reviews were only released at this time because Valve released CSS. It is poor timing as far as ATI's memory efficency issue in their WHQL drivers is concerned.

We have seen benchmarks before with accurate numbers, for both CSS and HL2.
And we will see more accurate numbers after ATI offically releases their 4.10 drivers, seeing as sites don't like using non-WHQL drivers in reviews even if the betas fix issues.

Just because bencmarks are done on two websites with newer drivers they are concidered inaccurate?

No I dont think so.

I believe that the issue was fixed in the driver used buy xbit labs and we still see that NVIDIA is winning. That is two websites.

I guess... during the beta when benchmarks were released with those current drivers ATi cards did beat the hell out of NVidia.
But for some reason, i just cant see ATi getting much of an advantage if any over the NVidia cards right now... i mean. How high could the FPS get with new drivers!?

I really think you all should read through the Hardocp forums in the videocard section. A lot of them know what they are talking about. And because its not a half life 2 website or a doom 3 website its not as biased. They seem to move to whatever videocard is faster at the moment.

im a long time member there, and its very nvidia biased in the video card forum, because everyone jumped on the 6800gt bandwagon when doom3 benches came out, and they defend their cards to the death.

I think you missed the difference between these Beta and WHQL drivers.

Generally when someone mentions Beta you think they are before the offical drivers. But when I say Beta I am talking about the 8.07 hotfix.

The WHQL certified 4.9's are version 8.05 I believe. The drivers they used are not the newer driver. These 8.07's are the same drivers that allowed for the large increase in 3Dmark2005 scores on X800 cards.

ATI released these Beta drivers, which they rarely do, because there was an issue with a game were it crashed quite a lot and because of the memory efficency issue on 256MB cards. I think I just read that the 8.07 hotfix is really early released versions of ATI's 4.11's.
