First 3-way Marriage in the Netherlands!

Nobody's rights are being violated, so it should be legal. Even if it somehow spirals out of control, you're only hurting yourself, because everything involving marriage is consentual. And there's no reason to be upset because some guys be married to more women than you, because women are not a commodity to be shared. Women can choose for themselves who to be with; if they want to live with some guy along with 4 others, they should be able to make it legal.

Why has polygamy been outlawed?

A) Religion started it, tradition kept it
B) Most people don't want to be polygamous, religious or not. Also most women would not want their guy to be with other women.

The state of your mind is not an insult. I'm just telling you so hopefully you can learn.

I don't have a problem with consentual relationships, I just think that this could very well be abused, quite possibly by those of a traditionally male dominanted polygamous cultural background.

Of course women are not a commidity to be shared, but I am afaird if polygamy was legal, they would be treated as such. I think the very notions of polygamy are sexist. And why should I be upset if anyone has more wives than me? I never implied that, I'm happy in my relationship, I'm a 1-woman man.
I'm just trying to think of the impact on society as a whole and the many ways such a system could be wide open to abuse, I care not for the morality of it. I do care about the social implications though.
What about those people who marry 3-way in order to get the legal benefits that marriage brings? Also how about I marry 5 foreign girls, just so I can get them a passport for this country? And many more issues like that.

I take the questioning of the state of my mind an insult, it offends me. And what are you trying to make me learn? That polygamy should be legal, because it's all 'common sense'? I'm afraid that's awfully simplistic. It's a step backwards in society IMHO.

Let's take it from the womens point of view here. If they are both happy about sharing one man, no matter how morally wrong it appears to us, we should support them. Go polygamy. Now i want to see a chick marry 2 guys. that would be interesting... :-P
