/ revives my thread

I just had that first lesson i was talking about, it was delayed a 2 days cos of a car problem
Aside from that the lesson was AWESOME, you guys were right, its was really good fun. I learnt all the basics then he threw me in the deep end and out into some busy roads and stuff. It was really good fun. Only problems were getting a straight line and the sensitivity of that damn 'gas', the amount of times he said 'off gas' geez lol
Cheers everyone, it was nothing to be afraid of i had a great time. Anyone else whoses starting soon, its something to look forward to seriously. Still buzzing lol...must calm down, play some GT4. :)

glad it went well for you :).

its my first lesson soon ...and i cant wait :D:D

my friend crashed his instructors car last week, ROFL

sure fire ways to pass your drivers ed:

* when checking mirrors dont stop to pop a zit

* hitting pedestrians is a no-no

* giving a fellow driver the one finger salute during the test can hinder your test score

* saying to the test instructor "let's see what this baby is capable of" is not a good idea

* driving on the sidewalk is a no-no

* slowing down to "check out the ladies" is usually frowned upon

* bribing your instructor to "turn a blind eye" for that last traffic infraction: not a good idea

Depends.

Could be an instant pass or an instant fail. :p

Poeple that have passed and maybe tried multiple tutors... whats better, a private tutor or someone working for a company such as the AA?... Im not sure which to book up, i want to do 2 lessons a week and pass pretty quick. Any advice is welcomed :)

btw, one of my old school friends drove out the test centre, and decided to speed up coming towards the zebra crossing where people wanted to cross, instead of stopping. Fortuntly for him, it was a dual control car and the instructor slammed on the breaks.... haha. He almost ran someone over.

Speaking of the one finger salute, I use that about everyday, people suck at driving around here, they piss me off.

Yeah luckly I didn't drive my Integra to get my license, I would've scared her with VTEC  :x

to be honest ...should you really be getting drivers education from someone who's a AA member? ....I mean, they're in AA cuz they have a drinking problem ...that's like getting taught to fly planes at an al quada training camp ;) :E

Instructor: "ok you're ready for your first flight"

you: "but....but ...but ..we havent learned how to land yet!!!!"

Instructor: "dont worry about it"

:E

lol.. the AA... not Alcoholics Annonymous although they're probably from that too

....."what?, do I have something on my head? why are you staring? ...that bird shit on my head, didnt it?"

Heh. WHen I first learned to drive, I had my dad take me out to a huge supermarket parking lot after closing hours, so the lot was empty and the parking lot was dark. It gave me lots of room to practice, and so he could teach me a variety of manuevers. The parking lot allows you lots of room to do various things, such as driving in a lane 'driving on through the parking lot lanes as if they were one.. changing lanes. Taking turns, both very sharp and and gentle, stopping... backing up. Y Turns, U turns. Speeding at 30-40 MPH and then having me suddenly hit the break as hard and fast as I could so that I know what it feels like for the situations that I might need to do it(this is important to feel before actually experiencing it in a real situation, but please... if you do this, dont speed 30-40mph on a small parking lot or into a curb or something. heh).

First lesson is just basics, like how to stop, what the pedals do, basic clutch control (so you can start and stop). Oh, and steering, lol.

Heh, my first driving lesson consisted of the instructor taking me into the middle of town and letting me drive around. I'm just glad that I had driven quite a bit beforehand.

i suppose 1 month old doesn't mean that its dead......

Why did you bring my thread back? lol since that lesson ive had about 5 lessons now, im getting quite 'pro' at driving now, its great fun, things start to become second nature. I have my theory test in about a months time as well so things are good, although the hazard perception bit confuses me, i dunno what things are always hazards, ive seen examples and sometimes a pedestrian just walking on the pavement is a hazard, i dont see why!

Driving is very very easy, and in america most of the cars are automatic so its like riding your bike.

Because they can jump out and yell "BOO!" at you. Especially small kids playing street football.

In UK most cars are manual. Manual transmission is easy, if you learn in an automatic, you are restricted to that unless you pass another test.

That's why americans can't drive easily in the UK, not many automatic cars :O
