We're all familiar with the post about the Haitians complaining about Vice City now the Cubans have started complaining too. But they're looking for more than an apology they want to take the game off the shelves in the U.S..

Opinion: Vice City Complaints

Only weeks after a similar complaint by Haitian groups, the Cuban American Bar Association has demanded that Game of the Year winner be removed from sale in the US.

Only weeks after a similar complaint by Haitian groups, the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) has demanded that Game of the Year winner Grand Theft Auto: Vice City be removed from sale in the US. Ramon A. Abadin, president of the CABA, has sent a letter to manufacturers of Vice City demanding an official letter of apology and that the game be removed from store shelves.

So what is all the fuss about? Both groups have seized on a single line of dialogue in the game; "Kill the Haitians". A certain part of Vice City includes missions that pit the player against both Cuban and Haitian gangs in turn. The fact that the dialogue refers only to a gang, and not the entire race, is lost on the CABA. On top of that, the whole game is (in one way or another) about killing people. Killing Haitians and Cubans is only one small part of the game. The rest of the time is spent killing rich white people!

The Haitian groups are also seeking $15,000 in damages, which raises more questions. What damage has been done? The animated characters on the screen have no link to reality apart from the name of their country. Perhaps animal rights groups should sue the makers of Worms for damages, due to the animated killing of worms in the game. The virtual Haitians and Cubans in Vice City are no more real than the virtual worms featured in the entire Worms series of turn-based strategy games.

The offended parties in question should learn something from the example set by the Japanese. Medal of Honor: Rising Sun has been very successful in Japan, despite the obvious content of the game. Rather than be offended by the killing of the virtual representation of their grandfathers, Japanese youth have bought up the game in droves. They realise that it is simply entertainment, nothing more.

F*ck them. If they don't like it, don't import it.
This is our country.
What the hell makes them think they can get games taken off our shelves!?!?

Thats what I'm saying. People these days are pussies and are too sensitive to boot. No one forced them to play it. If they don't like it then they shouldn't play it but I know they toture themselves by playing it anyway so they have something to complain about. I don't get all pissed off when white people are killed in a game, infact white people get killed more then any other culture in games and we don't give a f*ck. Some people need to see that RockStar isn't trying to promote racism, which for some reason a lot of these groups think thats all RockStar is about.

wow, just wow... I'm curious to see how Rockstar responds to this one. I hope they come out and say what they should, that's it's there game and it can be however the f*ck they please...but judging by how they acted last time... :\

in my opinion the cubans must not be so anger because they apear in a hig famous game
(but they apear like criminals so that make then angry)

Now Rockstar is learning what happens when you give into this kind of bullshit.

Running with Scissors wouldn't have given in. Infact they put protesters in their game for you to kill lol. Although their games aren't as fun they don't give into the bullshit and thats all that matters. I wonder if they're making a Postal 3...

damn. not the haitians!

OH MY GOD THE CUBANS!!1!!!111

they [complaining cubans/haitians not all cubans/haitians] can suck it, i like vice city if they dont like it they can go back to their respective islands.

next it will be strippers, then random bitches in a bathing suit, then politicians, then the game developer will start suing the people that sue them for hurting their feelings. sometimes.. i hate this country. all these superfluous lawsuits make me want to run people over sometimes.

OMG! I just read this at MSN.Com

"If the US Doesn't remove Vice City from it's shelves, we will allow Russia to place Mid & Long-range missiles in our fields."

Uh-Oh! ;)

I actually quite like the game. I guess these people never played it. If they had, they'd see how much enjoyment it gives to people. Especially smacking old rich whitey with his own golf club. :cheese:
