It seems the farmstead and woodland section, the footage from inside the helicopter cockpit and the tank firing animation from this video are all ingame footage...

Looking good! Also.... 4 fecking HOURS to walk from one end of the island ingame to the other???

Still more interested in ArmA2.

But yeah, it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would.

Looks great!!
He actually said 4 and a half hours to walk across the island, 2 hours in one of the fastest jeeps and 20 mins in a jet! Thats crazy huge!
I'm pretty hyped! If this is anything like the original it'll be amazing.

Any release date set for this yet?

This looks so much better then ArmA - That game failed big time, massive disipointment.

If this stays faithful to the origanal its going to be fantastic.

I played the demo of OF, but I thought it was meh, but I am actually interested in this

Arma2 will suck just as bas as the first one.

in comparison to the original op flash..... yes it sucked big hairy donkey balls...

Tough crowd, it was essentially OPF with a new coat of paint.

If this is anything like the original, I will be a very happy bunny.

Yeah, problem was, the lick of paint was given by Steven Hawkins and the game needed a Nasa supercomputer to run on the tech around at the time.

Ya Arma sucked compared to opf no hopes here for Arma 2. As far as opf 2 I wasnt really sure but after watching this Im starting to look forward to this game now!! Opf has got the realism I always yearned for forget all that BF toy soldier shit!

This isn't even being made by the original devs, Codemasters decided to 'hijack' the OFP name(They published the game and refused to let the devs, Bohemia, develop an OFP2 due to a fallout in relations), and are making their own 'OFP2', the Bohemia project that was originally called "Operation Flashpoint 2" is now called ArmA2.

To be honest, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world for another team to have a crack at it. I'm looking forward to see what they come up with.

I thought Armed Assault was pants. It felt like the original in the sense that it felt like a game from 2001. It's just so unpolished and rough around the edges, not to mention it runs like utter crap. Arma2 looks to be more of the same. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Codemasters peeps do a better job of it as long as they stick to what made the original great.

You know, to be honest I thought Operation Flashpoint 2 was going to suck horribly simply because it wasn't made by the original developers... but now that I looked at that video, I see that it has a TON of potential to be really realistic and awesome!

I'm definitely going to keep a continued eye on it and see how it does.

Yea, it has POTENTIAL, which in the modern gaming industry almost certainly means it'll be garbage. I'll still look out for it though.

That looks pretty damn sweet tbh. When is it due for release?

Spring 2009. Quite a while.

Then again we'll have games like Spore and stuff to break us through to the new year.

Bohemia obviously lack the dev skills ArmA was buggy p.o.s.
I have more trust in codemasters

Cool. next year suits me fine. There is too much PC goodness coming out between now and December.

They didn't really hijack the name, they've owned it all along. Bohemia just made it for them like you said. If I were them I'd keep the name too!

But Bohemia did a sucky job with ArmA. Codemasters seem to be doing a damn good job with this game so far. Way more hyped for this than ArmA2 after seeing this video.

consider me impressed
definitely gonna keep an eye on this one

Actually Bohemia are great devs and you would know this if you had play VBS1 or VBS2(Which are their official military sims employed by the US Army amongst others), VBS2 gets updates like every week.

I think ArmA was buggy and not as good as it could be was, simply the fact they didn't have the money that Codemasters provide. So they had to release it in such a state to get some money in the bank.

Anyone played VBS2?

Wow! Very impressive. I'm freaking sold! that's all I can say at moment.

VBS2? First time I've heard. Why isn't this more popular?

http://www.vbs2.com/ It's not very well-known to the 'average gamer' because of the fact that it isn't a game, it's a high-end simulation designed for use by military and armed forces around the world, amongst others the US army, the Australian army and the New Zealand army have made use of it AFAIK.

I played VBS2 at the Inter-service/industry training and simulation conference in Florida this November. They had it rigged up with 180 degree projector screens and real M16 rifles that shot blanks.

Wait... you mean Virtual Battle Space is available to download or buy? I thought it was only for commercial use.

VBS1 you can buy as an individual for private use, not sure about VBS2 though.

It's incredibly expensive though.
And I'm sure unless you're planning on going into the military to become a squad leader or something like that, you won't get much enjoyment from it.

This guy in that vid talks like the team making OFP2 actually made OFP1, when none of them had anything to do with it other then the name. The TRUE sequal to OFP1, made by the team that actually did OFP, is going to be ArmA2...
