First Prince of Persia 3 screenshot.

Geeze games are sucking these days. All they do is milk every single game thats slightly sucessful. When will they stop to take time on working on good innovative games with awesome gameplay and story elements. I'm sick of seeing crappy low quality sequels to every single game.

POP3
A new Rainbow Six
Ghost Recon 3
Half-Life 2: Aftermath
Doom 3: Ressurection Of Evil
Splinter Cell 2, 3 and soon 4
The Monthly Sims 2 Expansion
Battlefield 2 Along with the Other expansions
Call of Duty 2
Medal Of Honor 4 (Only Announced)
Socom 3
Unreal Championship 2

And the list goes on. Every single game and movie that sells ok spawns all these crappy sequels it's getting way out of hand and I think Gaming is dyeing because the companies put more emphasis on cheap sequels rather then new innovative games with good gameplay and story elements.

I love the way you casually dismiss some of these unreleased titles as "crappy sequels".

Let's see:
HL2:A - hmmm...don't know maybe has a slight chance of being good because it has a reasonably good developer behind it.
CoD 2 - hmmm...original was excellent - maybe it might turn out ok

Ever thought that maybe we ENJOY these because it continues the games that we know and love. By your reasoning, HL2 was a "crappy sequel" because it's...well...a sequel.

I dont know wtf people are whining about.

I thought the WW Prince was pretty awesome :D

I'm talking about crappy expansion packs and crappy sequels that are developed within 18 months.

I know, but i'm going on about what the people in the original link are all bitching about. =/

But you are prejudging them for being crappy before they are even released. For example, Chaos Theory was VASTLY superior to both the original Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow. I'm afraid I don't understand your logic - besides, you don't know how long these projects have been in development for and as such you can't reasonably classify them as "rush jobs".

Heck Max Payne 2 was FAR better than the original and that came out about 18 months afterwards.

First of all, Ubisoft started Warrior Within before the Sands of Time was even released. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has been in production since 2002.
Stop complaining, if you are going to complain, stop sounding like a whinny moron, get your facts straight. Second of all, the Warrior Within prince was awesome.
Warrior Within has gotten a lot of great user reviews from the community outside of the official forums, for example, if you go to www.metacritics.com or www.gamespot.com, the user reviews averaged to 9.0%, and that's out of roughly about 3,000 users.

Oh, by the way, if you think that Ubisoft has started to run out of ideas because they're using the same prince, you should play the game and beat it and then you'll see why-it fits with the ending. I also stated that this is a direct sequel.

Really hope they get the fighting system right this time. The system in the last two sucked.

Would you prefer a Ninja Gaiden-esque fighting style? I thought the Prince of Persia system was a bit slow. Ninja Gaiden's was fast paced. I liked both.

Oh but of course. Anything like Ninja Gaiden would rock. Just as long as the fighting is fluid i'm happy.

i see your point,i was having this discussion in another forum, ubi seem to be really milking their franchises(every console and handheld) and im not a fan of their product placement either,i enjoyed ww but another 1 within a year of the last :hmph:

hl2 took what.5 years or so to make from hl1,

each metal gear game takes 3 years to make

i mean pandora tomorrow was a expansion in most people eyes and ct for all its hype only really had a graphical upgrade which they rightly advertised to get peoples interests, the mp was pretty much a tweaked 1 from pt and the coop was pretty buggy and only had a few levels,1 of which was good.

but of course if you like more of the same then who cares really?i really liked ww but i wont hold my breath for any major overhaul of the formula and if it mixes sot and ww,i'll be happy

NOOOOO

Why do they insist on using the ****ing angsty "dark" style again? It was so irritating and jarring in PoP2. Furthermore, it was obvious that they were only trying to appeal to the "hardcore" and "x-treme" youth with its ****ing bloodshed, barely-clothed women, and metal soundtrack.

**** you, Ubisoft. Give me the old prince back.

Yeah, the new prince sucked. POP: SoT's prince was awesome, perfect humour.

Still, looks kindof neat :)

It takes place in Babylon, don't worry just yet, Mr.B said the third game is going to be a mix of the Sands of Time and Warrior Within. The new prince also allowed people so much freedom when it came to combat. The old prince, as clever as he was, could never decapitate people, moves such as that were very satisfying.

The Angsty Prince isn't really my favourite. I'd like to see a different style of Prince every game really.

mr b?whos that?

The first one was fun, the second one sucked, this one will...

I would much prefer a slightly exhausted sequel to a stillborn new idea. Nuff said.

I never liked the POP series anyway. And this screen doesnt show anything new either.

Pop is a bit repetative throughout the game, I like teh storyline but apart from that it's the same old puzzle game with a bit of jumping and fighting, you could compare it to tomb raider :p

1 thing i missed from ww was a decent puzzle, theres nothing on the scale of the library puzzle from sot but i guess puzzles aren't 'down with the kids'

No they don't, if that was true they would have reased a patch for PoP:WW. And most fans weren't that happy with the makeover of PoP. So no UBI soft just listens to it's wallet.

On a side note, I also thought at first they had totally ruined the game, but ww was quite fun once you played it, I don't mind seeing an angry prince, it's interesting to see a different side of him, and I personally thought he was much more arrogant in the first game, in the second he was pretty nice and emphatic. And the battle system was vastly improved. But one game like this is enough, just like Kangy it would be nice to see different sides of the prince and different visuals styles in each different game.

First off, Splinter Cell 2 & 3 are exceptional games. I would rather play those than some experimental "new" idea that probably won't be nearly as fun.

And I love it how you diss on SP:4, CoD2 and HL2:A when they aren't even released. Developers love to improve on ideas, adding features and themes that weren't present in the original. If Westwood had decided not to do anything with the original Command and Conquer, you wouldn't have Red Alert 2 or Tiberian Sun or Generals. If Blizzard decided to stop at Diablo or Warcraft, we wouldn't have their awesome sequels. If Valve decided to stop at Half-Life, this forum wouldn't even exist. Kschreck, let's see you work for a developing company and continually sell a unique game after another and have them sell enough to put dinners on your employee's tables.

Developing and selling a game isn't a hobby, it's a career. And if they take too many risks, they're going to end up out of the job.

Well, the patch is the only thing they forgot about. Anyways, I also would've liked it to see another prince, but I don't care.
Pesmerga, what is SP:4? Do you mean Splinter Cell 4? Anyways, Warrior Within showed Ubisoft that people like the new theme so I guess that's why they're keeping it.

Dude, UBI soft are the worst gamedev/publisher, when it comes to support. the state ww was released in was miserable, sot had a lot of problems to, and a lot of different UBIsoft games. And don't get me started on BG&E, that just plain disgracefull.

Well, Ubisoft's games work well on my computer. However, you're right, the problems just take away from the gameplay experience, the gameplay experience is just awesome.

I tried to translate the screenshot.
"In the times that run, anybody it will surprise the one to him that the programming studies express to the maximum their more powerful titulos until the infinite. To this fever of the "secuelismo" Prince is added now of Persia, whose third part finishes announcing. Acclimated in Babylonia, jeugo continues where it left the previous one it, with a fugitive prince whom it has to flee from his own city persecuted by the army and by it mounted of new enemies, like the calls "pack", that attack in group and they persecute to you without rest. Its creators to qui ofrecer to the total player freedom for mo MOS by the diverse districts of the ciuda by its tile roofs, where the Prince rá with greater skill. Also desa llaremos abilities to surpass the new desafios and puzzles, that pron to be spectacular, asi like visual everything and pecto, and which is tie also. Ademas, vermos to person of the first delivery, like the King."
Sounds interesting. I read some other parts and it said that the prince is a fugitive in Babylon and is being chased by the army. It also says that you ca run on the roof of the buildings.
I would like some one to give it a better translation. It's in Spanish.
Here's a better picture:

Prince of persia 3? Hardly! There have already been at least 5 std Prince of persia games, including

Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia 2
Prince of Persia 3D
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Prince of Persia: Warrior within

the jist of the article coming from a native spanish speaker:

They say the game takes place right where the 2nd one left off, with the prince being a fugitive from his own city being chased by the Babilonian army. They mention a new kind of enemy called "Pack" that follows you around the city wherever you go, giving you constant chase and attacking in groups.

The developers want to offer the player complete freedom to roam around the rooftops of the city, where the prince will move with superior skill. There will be new skills you can develop and new puzzles. At the end they mention something about "the first delivery" which I assume refers to SOT and how one of the characters?(The scan cuts out the rest of the words) will be making a return, as the king.

That's the literal meaning of the article, not a word for word translation because those are incredibly clunky and worthless, just the main points of it.

Sadly I have yet to play either POP:SOT or POP:WW although I was a huge fan of the original games. I guess I'll have to give these a rental sometime.

Actually, Ubisoft is using it as a working title. Ubisoft used Prince of Persia 2 for Warrior Within. They're going to have a subtitle, just like the Splinter Cell series.

Thanks, I knew that there was something fishy about the Google translators.

The Prince of Persia games are fast becomming the equivelant of the Tomb Raider series Imo.

I like to point out the irony of the fact that people are complaining about sequels to games on a forum that is based on a sequel of a game. Wierd, huh?

If you're talking about the first three Tomb Raiders, then thats not a bad thing. Its the fact that they never changed that caused problems, and Prince of Persia doesn't seem scared to do that.
