These are reports from developers. The actual interview cannot be accessed anymore thanks to the number of hits it is recieving but here is some of the stuff that was said:

-The hardware's close to final, but still hasn't squeezed into those empty PS3 cases yet. An alleged senior developer is quoted as saying: "I think to fit everything that Sony wants in there AND leave space for a 2.5 inch hard drive, the machine would have to grow. The models they're showing off are way too small for what they want."

-Upgraded controller or games media? Well, "developers are designing games with the familiar DualShock 2 controls in mind," and they're "programming the game as if it will be written for a 10-speed DVD drive" (so as not to "affect load time"). The situation may change in the future, but that's the reality for these devs right now.

-Games oughtta be more immersive thanks to the PS3's supposed ability to handle "more stuff simultaneously" as "a machine barely superior to Xbox 360." For this small system gap to widen, "...Sony will have to make available to [devs] libraries and new routines... something they've been severely lacking at so far."

-For reference, "current playable content" looks more like Fifth Phantom Saga than Killzone or Motorstorm, but MGS4-quality graphics are looking more and more possible (which is probably a good thing), while launch titles may resemble "nice Xbox 360 material" like Dead or Alive 4 and Gears of War.

Yeah, I figured it doesn't really look as good as those crazy videos. Oh well.

Everything said there i already new. :/

It wont at launch. It will later on.

The only reason I'm holding out hope that this generation of consoles will showcase some sweet graphics is because of MGS4, the XBox 360 graphics of games currently on the shelves are good but their not exactly mind blowing like people were expecting. Maybe GoW or Oblivion will change that, but if they've had to scale back graphics people will pick up on it.

Meh, it's not even the graphics I'm looking forward to on PS3, it's the games I want.

Oblivion definitely won't since you can get the same if not better results with a nicely equipped PC right now, not to mention the Construction Set.

Gears of War might indeed change things, but I don't see that one coming out until the Fall even though it is supposedly due on 7/1 now(might be smart to publish somewhere close to the PS3 launch if you are MS though, especially if Halo 3 might not be out before MGS4).

First gen titles on any system will be good, but obviously not great. Greatness comes with time and exposure to the hardware which folks just don't have yet. Heck, some popular third party developers for the 360 don'teven have their dev kits yet!

Interesting read though.

I was able to get to the article, it just loads slowly:
http://games.kikizo.com/news/200602/065_p1.asp

It seemed pretty positive, I was surprised to hear them say what they saw was more like "high end 360 titles like GoW and DoA", and confirmed my beliefs about the system's potential.(On average basically the same as the 360, with the best devs slowly pulling away)

Now that the article is actually accessible I have to say I wasn't surprised by seeing that Sony is most certainly going to have to back out of the "1080p is the true HD" claim. It sounds like almost everything is only being made for 720p and then can be scaled up. That is far from native 1080p and a very far cry from the claim Sony made of the PS3 being capable of running games on dual 1080p TVs.

It is capable. You just have to have a developer good enough or a game simple enough. So, its probably not going to happen often, if at all.

if this is true (and i wouldn't be suprised if it was) sony's only 'real' edge was being able to output true 1080p, which they can but most developers won't because it's easier to simply upscale.

i pretty much expect the ps3 to be more or less exact same visual quality/performance as the xb360, but in the long run (like 2years) it might go ahead.

i would say i'm disapointed, but this is sony, they're full of lies. : o

I expect that sometime in the system's liftime (though probably towards the end of it) we will see full-on 1080p games as developers get more comfortable with the architecture (and the upscaling gets lambasted by the press :E).

Yeah, I kind of think this will be the way of it...unless more and more devs get on board with John Carmack's way of thought and develop for the 360 and the PC because the dev environments are so similar and that would cut costs by a large margin I imagine.

They are also full of seriously talented first-party developers, so I wouldn't let their "lies" bother you too much. :)

Hmm... you could say the same about Microsoft, or Nintendo, or any game maker out there, save for a couple - basically, it's not so much lies, as hype that was built up and turns out not to be true, everyone does it
