OMG TOMBI

That game was addictive. I only had the DEMO and I was addicted to THAT.

Unfortunantly this was when I was 10 or something so I didn't have any money for games. > >

Get the game, no matter the cost... it's great fun :)

Also, Skullmonkeys!:

I am literally installing Windows 98 on a virtual machine right now so I can play some of these games.
I did the same a month or so ago, and I was amazed how awesome Win 98 runs and looks when I'm running Windows 98 Second Edition Unofficial Service Pack 2.1a.:)

Uh, you don't have to. XP has built in.
...? What do you mean?

I downloaded Microsoft's Virtual PC software. I am emulating Windows 98 on that. The games don't work if you try to just install them on XP.

Numbers probably has no real experience with running oldies under WinXP and thus is not aware that just setting an exe to Windows 98 compatability mode far from fixes everything.:)

There are still some issues with Virtual PC emulation of 98 etc, you can't emulate 3dfx card sadly for example, but hopefully this is something they'll implement in later versions.

The whole Spyro series was great fun, as was Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3.

if you install it then right click on the game exe then go to properties and set it so it will run as it was in windows 98 os

Monster Truck Madness 2 - Great fun. Almost everyone in my family used to race and try to beat each other with the best top time on each track. I still hold most of them. :P

Die Hard Trilogy - Played the demo so much that the PSX disc almost got scratched. :P

Oh man I played the DHT demo so goddamn much :D

I've played most of the PC games mentioned here (MAGIC CARPET \:D/), but here are a few more:

^ What he said :)

But really, all the oldies I've run (Scream, ect.) have run fine with compatibility settings turned to 95.

Oh man another world is so bloody difficult. I got pretty far though, very good game (if almost impossible).

Incorrect, it works for some games, but far from all, even some more famous games, such as MechWarrior 2 for example, don't run at all under WinXP afaik.

Me too. Shame I don't have half those games anymore :(
Edit: infact I don't have any of those anymore :(

Hope they release them on the Wii VC... then again, many of those are Rare games. Then again Nintendo owns the rights to those characters (well Donkey Kong at least), so there may still be hope :(

Exactly.

Anyone remember an old game: It had real people acting in the cut scenes, and, after they were done, you'd have to complete this car battle/race thing on an alien planet. The cut scenes were meant to be funny.

Anyone have any ideas?

Little Big Adventure

Mega Race?

Mega Race?

No, but you're on the right track.

All I can remember is driving a red, futuristic car around an alien planet (I want to say red, but I'm not certain). When you drove, you have missiles and bombs and such. You blew up flying things and other cars in front of you. It wasn't like a race, more just a survivability run. After you'd complete it, you'd have to watch a "comedy" live-action skit (which wasn't really funny to me, but this was rated M so I probably didn't get most of the jokes).

Wait, how could we forget...

z_screen024.jpg

I completed that the other week on Project64 - the only console I saw at home was the megadrive (genesis), god I wish I'd played Ocarina when I was eight or nine...

Incidentally, micro machines with 5 players on the playstation was sweet, we still fire that up sometimes

OMG Cosmo! I had that on a CD with like Commander Keen and loads of other stuff. There was a game where you're in a submarine and you have oxygen and stuff. That was on there too. Really cartoony but really good and hard.

****in' Z wooooooooooooo!

I loved that game so much! I have the CD right here next to me, could never get rid of it but it wont work on XP.

Whats this Windows 98 emulation you're all on about? Should work on that.

Cyberspeed?

That had comedy ads in between races, though, not skits...

There are too few Microprose games in this thread, what's wrong with you guys!?:p
