Hi
I wanted to ask if the difficulty level by the AI will be dependent of the player?
Such as if you choose Very Hard then the PC adapts to be 3-4 steps ahead of you, making the whole progress always very hard for you. So however good or bad you are, you will have a tough time.

I did and no reply, could several people send him an email with the question? One ought to slip through to him

I don't think he'd like to be spamed by even more questions (especially not since it's the same question!=).
I think you should take it easy, relax, and then send another e-mail=)

"E-mail gabe" certainly isn't the best answer, and "Can several people e-mail him so he's more likely to reply" is worse. It's fantastic that Gabe has been so involved in the community, but many fans have seen his generosity of time as a reason to e-mail question after question. More mail must go to that adress than he could possibly answer, and sending more won't help.

I don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but this close to release, I think our questions can wait :) Try to treat gabe's e-mail adress like that of any other game company e-mail adress.. Would you e-mail John Carmack about doom 3 every time you had a question about it? I'm sure a lot of people would, but not to the extent people are e-mailing Gabe after noticing that he answers a lot of mail.

It's sad that people get furious when he doesn't reply. If he would reply to every e-mail you would get HL2 2005!=)

Exactly. It's almost become an expectation that he'll answer, and when he doesn't, the solution is "send more e-mails, he's bound to reply to one, at least!". Many of the questions people are asking could most likely either be completely answered, or at least reasonably speculated on based on all the information that's been released so far in interviews, the modding faq, and on the info thread.

I thought he was just a PR guy,

Do some research, Go to the Valve website. Then hang your head in shame for not knowing who Gabe is.

Gabe is the Managing Director.

Doug Lombardi is the Director of Marketing (PR Guy). That's why there were a lot of interviews with him after ECTS.

I think he's the founder of Valve. He works there, with the game, but he's also responsible for the PR.

they said something about objects in the game communicating with eachother if i do remember correctly. This if used correctly could give ai the help it needs to seem smart. Its not possible for it to think 3-4 move ahead(halflife2 is not rigedly defined like chess) though i am guessing it will pick actions such as run(which way?)/stand/duck/shoot from goals based on greatest threat type logic. As to movement(point a to b) it will probably be based on avoiding or persuing objects around it.

When I said 3-4 steaps ahead I meant that the AIs ability to aim correctly is better meaning youre always the underdog.
Thanks about the info on Gabe

I don't think you have to worry about perfect aim its probably goes damage per hit goes up as difficulty level is raised and aim is improved a little. Ai performance on the other had will be like bf1942 how much cpu do you want to use type deal.
