Football (soccer) transfer window closing...

Out of the 4 in the OP, only Suarez is confirmed as yet.

Torres not going to Man U (although, how I wish).

£35 million for Carroll is a bit of a risk, he's still only young and also currently injured. I really don't think Torres is worth £50m on his current form, maybe Chelsea feel they can bring back his glory days.

I'm just stoked West Brom got Carlos Vela on loan, just in time for Wigan tomorrow. BOING BOING!

Holy cow some of those fees were over the top, £50mil for Torres? £35 for freakin Carroll? Shitting hell :O

I was waiting for the big Spurs striker to be signed. After the £38.5 million bid for Aguero being turned down...I thought that money would be going elsewhere. Instead, I heard we bid £500,000 for Phil Neville and some other menial sum for Charlie Adam. 2 players we don't need...AND no striker in sight. Got refused both bids too. Christ almighty.

£35 million for Carroll is insane. That is more a reflection of Liverpool's desperation as opposed to an accurate evaluation of the player.

I wish they'd give me millions of pounds to kick a ball around while wearing Nike shoes.

I thought the £24m (£18m + add-ons) that Aston Villa agreed for Darren Bent was over the top, but next to £35m for Andy Carroll it looks like a cautious conservative move. It certainly beats Robbie ****ing Keane anyway. We got Jean II Makoun for a decent price too which means we spent big for a team that everyone thought was skint due to the frustrated departure of Martin O'Neill.

Carroll reportedly didn't want to leave Newcastle, either. There's massive flop-potential there when you consider that plus the weight of expectation and his attitude problems in the past.

If Ian Holloway wasn't a nutter then Liverpool probably would have spunked around £10m on Charlie Adam, too. I suspect they're printing counterfeit cash at Anfield.

Dat Scouse desperation!

Meanwhile:
"Also, I wanted to join because Chelsea always have shown a big respect for me. They really want me and it is important when you have the support of the people in the club, and the support of the fans who always showed respect to me when I came to Stamford Bridge and at Anfield. Now I am very happy to be a Chelsea player."
